Would y’all actually hang a CBI banner?

Had the same, though I would think the AAC will change that once the big boys leave. Someone other than Memphis will eventually want to go to a post-season tourney.

Is that a new rule? South Florida won the CBI in 2019.

You should really say that you're paying to go dancin'.
The CBI selects 16 teams that are not selected for the NCAA Tournament or the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), and who are willing to pay a $50,000 entry fee to participate.

The NCAA Tournament is THE event.
The NIT, I tolerate.
Everything else....really, why bother celebrating it?

Give it a decade in CUSA amd you'll see why we take whatever we can get.

Yeah, but NMSU goes to the Big Dance on the regular.
FAU = One NCAA appearance in 2002, and one CIT appearance in 2019 (both losses). Glad FAU is excited

RE: FAU accepts CBI invitation!!
As a competitor, and as a fan, I see ANY competition as worthy of my best effort and winning is always an accomplishment. I find it curious that some who will never sniff the NCAA Final Four, or the Elite Eight, and probably not even the Sweet 16 cast disparities on a national tourney. Most programs begin the season with the goal of winning their conference championship, and doing so brings a reward, either an auto-bid to the NIT or a spot in the Dance. Then most of those same teams are quickly bounced right out, many with humiliating double-digit losses. One and done!
For the teams in the CBI they face a challenge, an opportunity, to emerge as champion from a legit gathering of "good" teams. It's no different, really better, than those early-season classics held in Hawaii where, yes, some very good teams are present, but who really knows how some of them will fair that season. Still, winning in Maui is an accomplishment.
I may not be explaining my point very well. Bottom line is, if you're in it, be in it to win it!
