It shouldn't be. If he was with the team, the team would be better than it is now. To blame him for everything is idiotic. That's what some in the media are doing.

It shouldn't be. If he was with the team, the team would be better than it is now. To blame him for everything is idiotic. That's what some in the media are doing.

It wasn’t Emoni’s fault. It was Penny’s & Papa Bates’. Emoni never should have put in a position at 17, he was clearly unprepared to assume.
This season, he’s a role player, like Minott. Next year, who knows?

Sadly next year he's probably gone.

Maybe somebody special will step in and pay enough or convince the dad to let him develop without his watchful eye----If that's the major issue, and it's really not his back.

You don't have to be a basketball expert to look at Duren and realize Bates needs to physically mature a year to really be effective.

If indeed Bates got hurt it was because he needs his body to mature before trying to play against 22 year-olds.

Holmgren, Zags Center and a 19 year old freshman, is 7 feet and a 190 lb walking stick. Kind of astounding to see how skinny his legs are. But his footwork is superb and he plays smart.

I've never seen someone so thin manage to do what Holmgren does. So I guess Bates, had he been exposed to more physical BB (instead of sheltered by his dad), could have been more ready for D1 even with that slight build.
