I must admit. Back in mid January I personally felt this was one of the worst teams and worst rosters at Kent State in over 20 years.

Shows what I know.

Congratulations to all, particularly Senderoff considering Toledo's Kowalcyk and Ohio's Boals had strong seasons as well.

I hope that every non senior on that list decides to stick with their commitment to their school. Lots of talent returning next season.

We'll have to see which coach *Groce* gets sent packing.

RE: Mens Basketball Post Season Awards
Cleveland, many of us thought that a couple of months ago. I said the team was "mediocre" and that it could be Senderoff's worst team and they could have the first losing season since 1998. And all that was true at that point in time. Now the regular season was Senderoff's best. What happened? Well, sometimes a team's performance improves over the course of a season simply by continuing to plug away at getting better. That's part of it, but I also believe that the team COVID woes ending and the players with injuries getting better made a big difference, too.

I think it’s simple. Once Garcia and Gio were back to playing 100%, the team is undefeated. Everything before that was piecemeal in terms of finding a cohesive group to be on the floor. Add in VCD’s steadily improving play and this is a formidable team.

Garci and Gio are who I meant when I referred to injuries. I felt a while back that if everyone got healthy, they would play better. But I never anticipated that they would get this much better. I mean, I never dreamed it would end up being Senderoff's best regular season, both overall and in the MAC.

I never thought that there wasn't talent on this team. In fact I saw too much talent and not enough playing time to keep people from transferring at the break. Coach Senderoff has done a great job to get most guys playing time and finding starters for different roles. I never thought it would gell as well as it has. Different new players have contributed to give us a lot of depth.

Vegas odds are 5-1 to win the MAC tournament. 5000 to 1 to win it all.

Crazy that Kent sits at #2 but only one player on the first-third teams. I know it was mostly a team effort or Carry taking the game over but still weird to see.

Happy with what we got, all very well deserved. Freeman's a very good player but I still think Jacobs is the better defender. Defensive win shares and Defensive box score plus/minus agree. The fact that he only made honorable mention shows IMO how little defense is valued in today's game. Hopefully he feels slighted and takes it out on opponents the next three days.
