Coaching changes
I believe ASU still has a volleyball coach to hire and haven't settled their men's or women's basketball coach situation yet either. Will be interesting to follow. Quiet so far on University Avenue.

RE: Coaching changes
I think it will remain quiet on University Avenue. I think DW is safe for another season but if he lays another egg next year he should be gone. We need something we can be proud of and support. A 9 win season does nothing for the program or the fans.

Based on what he has done so far, I have little doubt that Darrell can bring talented players to Little Rock. I also feel like he was a pretty good floor coach. The only question is can he keep the talent he brings in. While I'm sure he bears some blame for some of the players who have left, the Transfer Portal has caused havoc at many programs around the country.

Can ANY mid major coach keep talented players more than 1 or 2 years? I don't think so.

He can recruit good talent, yes. But it's another animal to keep them. So far, he hasn't done well at keeping the talent.
Honestly, we played a lot better in the tournament because I felt that he was more relaxed and let the players play. Maybe, he needs to change his style or attitude a bit to get the best out from the team. That's just my opinion.

It's going to be a struggle. Now bigger schools cannot only offer more exposure, bigger crowds, regular TV games but can "legally" offer money through NIL deals. Not sure it makes sense for us to recruit from anywhere but the transfer portal. Realistically, what are the odds of us keeping Jordan Jefferson here for 4 years. Doesn't matter one bit who our coach is. It's hard to believe the Tranfer Portal has really only been here for one year. Remember Kamani Johnson still had to sit out last season.

RE: Coaching changes
This tweet suggests to me that Balado may be gone. If the administration wanted to spin this season as a "success" they could tout his 18 (I believe 3 games were cancelled) wins and their first trip to postseason in 20 years or so. They will definitely be invited to one of the "pay to play" tournaments so they could go if they wanted to. Although I'm not sure of the current status of these tournaments due to Covid, I assume one or more of them will be played.
@LoganWhaleyKAIT
Arkansas State men's basketball will not play in any postseason tournaments, the school tells me.
Mike Balado had mentioned after the GA State loss that postseason play was a possibility, but that will not happen.
A-State's season ends with an 18-11 record (8-7 Sun Belt).

I’m starting to think someone needs to put a post-it on the AD’s computer or desk phone that says HIRE A VOLLEYBALL COACH
