Gonna be a good season coming up I think.

GO HUSKIES!

Charleston is great. I think you will like it. Congrats on the move! I've done cross country moves, they are a beast.

If you bored on a Saturday afternoon, drive a couple of hours North to CCU. See if you can sneak into the scorekeeper room and run off some time off of their clock.

RE: Football Season Tickets
Does anyone know if they've been calling season ticket holders for renewals? I received three calls from Dekalb last week, but the caller didn't leave a voicemail. I get so many scam phone calls, I don't pick up unless I know the caller. Just curious because I do want to renew my tickets again.

Most likely it was a call for season ticket and HAF donation renewal. Athletics usually wakes up in March and starts with their calls, making you feel important, and saying that they will gladly assist in taking your money. If you don’t immediately renew, the calls will continue into April and beyond. Then, after you renew, you become one of the masses again and won’t hear from them again until next March. And then the cycle continues. I guess it’s good to feel important at least until you send in your money.

I just dug out my old box of ticket stubs last weekend while doing some cleaning. Brought back some great memories. Sitting in row 8, the game I caught a game puck in the last season in Chicago Stadium. Another game sitting in the second (last row) dead center on the end of the ice on a new years eve game looking between the flags to see the ice. Cubs opening day 1995, orange bowl with NIU, concerts... Those stubs are great triggers, not having that option now sucks.

Yes, very true, those ticket stubs are great souvenirs and provide wonderful memories, as you've indicated. I still have my ticket stubs from when we beat Maryland in Huskie Stadium and, of course, the Orange Bowl (plus many more). I just cannot imagine attending a New Year's bowl with electronic tickets.

When I met my wife at NIU, our first date was attending a movie ("American Grafitti") at the cinema on Lincoln Highway. Gosh, how I wish I still had the ticket stubs from that movie. Of course, when we went on that date, I did not know she would become my wife.

Yes, ticket stubs provide wonderful memories. As the song "Traces" by the Classics IV states: "Tickets torn in half, memories in bits and pieces....."

Yes, I received a voice mail about season ticket renewals.

Interesting. I’ve received no calls or e-mails. Fine with me!

I have to admit I tossed out my stubs and memories. Probably not the smartest move I have made. It was only a large shoe box. I saw the ticket stub for Michael Jordan's first home Bulls game recently sold in excess of $250,000

You can also lose/misplace your phone, or it could malfunction. Many times my phone would freeze and stop working. I have never lost or forgotten a paper ticket.....and they don't malfunction.

My ice maker broke and I lost the recipe to make ice. I now have ice delivered by horse which is better than by car or truck since gas prices are so high.

RE: Football Season Tickets
Is there a way to remove the parking pass option from the account or do I need to call NIU athletics about that?

If you are waiting for the hard copy renewal forms, it's pretty easy just to not include the cost of the parking pass in your total and then indicating on the form that you do not want parking. If you are paying online through your Huskies ticket account, I would suggest that you call Athletics to let them know.

RE: Football Season Tickets
I always enjoy seeing other MAC schools handle season tickets. We are on our 7th year first row 50 yard line at EMU. My wife has a padded chair back seat and we got both of our season tickets for $227 because we asked for paper tickets. Parking is free because we are handicapped. We used to get a discount every game concessions merch but last year it was every other game. We used to the ticket event on February signing day with snacks and meet the coaches. That stopped with early December signings. I think they are planning a season ticket event in July.

That's a heck of a deal for padded seat back on the 50-yd line. MAC football ticket prices are a great deal.

NIU usually charges for general parking (parking near the stadium involves being a doner) but last year they didn't charge for parking due to not wanting to exchange cash/COVID considerations. Curious to see if NIU starts charging for parking again this season? If they don't, they are leaving a lot of money on the table.

A lot? ehh, its not exactly crowded. They will be leaving some money out there, somewhat more than what you'd find in a couch but not exactly a lot.

Can you guys post when you get HAF packets and other season ticket information by U.S. Mail? For some reason, I stopped getting mail from Athletics (and NIU in general) and have received nothing for several months. Thanks.

Wrong. The deadline for HAF and season ticket renewal has traditionally been at the end of April. Last year, the due date was extended because they couldn’t get the packets out in time.

I only went to the Wyoming game last year and the general (non-donor) parking lots out by the Convocation Center had a bunch of vehicles, including RVs. RVs are charged $30 for general parking and regular vehicles $15. Let's say 500 vehicles parked out there, that was a loss of $7,500 in parking fees (not including the higher RV fees). For a program with the lowest budget in the MAC and also has to play at least 2-3 payday games every season, every dollar matters.
