Well done Aggies! Your guys are too tall for ACU and have great three point shooting. Now win for the WAC at the BIG tournament. You can do it.

Mario Moccia said there were at least 50 ACU fans.

I heard him say that. I kind of felt bad for their players that they were a game away from the NCAA tournament and that was the support they got. I think they had more band and cheerleaders than actual fans.

How much support should you expect for a 6 seed playing 1,000 miles away?

All the credit to ACU. When it mattered the Wildcat's championship heart came out. Their players knew what it took to win championships as they took the Southland Conference Championship a season earlier. They rose to the top in this WAC tournament taking out Utah Valley, Stephen F. Austin, and Seattle in successive nights. They just ran out of gas in this new WAC tournament format and met another team that also knew how to win championships with more size and fresher legs.

ACU has a winning formula, they were just missing a player this season like Joe Pleasant and/or Kolton Kohl to shore up their middle.

Ha! Well, that would be a nice parting gift for our WAC brethren. A bunch of tourney credits.

Got to give credit to ACU, they did what no other WAC team had to endure in History. They played ALL WAC regular season champions (beating 2). The WAC needed an upgrade and now they have it. 3 of the new Texas teams played solid all year. I hope to see other teams in the WAC get some post season play and dominate.

With NMSU (and Sam Houston) gone after 2023, it will open the door for someone else to fill the void as the conference alpha.

It's been a great run for New Mexico State since the 2006/2007 season. NMSU went 6-24 in 2005 after Lou Henson had to step away after he was diagnosed with cancer. That was a tough year. Interesting the guy who became the interim HC that year is the head coach at De Paul. 10 NCAA Tournament Appearances, 10 WAC Tournament Championships, and 7 WAC Championship. NMSU also finished 2nd Place 5 other times, and 3rd place 3 times. The lowest NMSU has finished in the WAC was 4th back in 2005/2006. What a run.

Thank you, it has been a struggle this year. Still, I think it turned out a little better than most of us hoped. We knew we had the skill and experience but that the WAC was also a better conference. The Aggies, as well as the other WAC teams, have proven to be worth the move. I am glad that we were able to remain competitive and stay positioned to continue our growth.

But if they happen to win the CUSA Championship, they won't be strapped with a bad 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament either. NMSU might actually be seated in a more winnable matchup than playing a top 4-5 team yearly.

Yes, they will. Might want to look at previous CUSA seeds. Let me know the last time CUSA had a 1–12 seed.

2017 had MTSU as a 12 seed. So not too far off from the current year. I expect CUSA to have a 12 seed again.

Yeah they only had a 30-4 record and 17-1 conference record to get there. I guess if NMSU had more 12 seeds, they would have won a game there by now?

CUSA and WAC with the same seed this year.

I did say that would happen. We saw some really good runs by teams that will stay with CUSA. UAB is about as strong as NMSU so the seeding makes sense.

If North Texas would have won the CUSA tourney, I believe they would have been seeded higher than 12. They are a 2 seed in the NIT.

Yup, and conversely if NMSU had not won the WAC tournament, it is unlikely another WAC school would have received a 12 seed. As I pointed out one before, the years NMSU did not go to the NCAA tournament, the WAC representative received a 15 seed. NMSU's winning program has artificially elevated the WAC's auto-bid seed. Unless someone else steps up their OOC performance after NMSU leaves, I expect the WAC auto-bid to drop to 13 or worse.

I thought there were several informed posters on here that said NMSU schedules cupcakes and never beats anyone of note? Maybe I just dreamt that...
