The best team belado has had at asu and they don't even get to the semifinals of the sbc. Good God, UALR has been to the NCAA more often than asu.

RE: asu
Without checking the record books I believe we have been to 5X as many NCAA tournaments as ASU.

Despite their easy schedule, ASU finished 18-11 this season. With the chance that he will keep Omier on board, he isn’t getting fired with that record. Maybe his chances of getting fired are slightly higher than Darrell’s (zero) but not by much.

You guys focus primarily on basketball, so you should be investing more money in the basketball program than we are.
We still highly encourage donors looking to give to baseball or basketball to change it to football instead.

Understandable. You can make more money off football just because of the sheer numbers of people that attend games. You have to spend money to make money.
As I understand athletic budgets, at least in Arkansas, money given to a specific sport has to do directly to that sport's budget. But money given without an ear mark by the donor can be spent anywhere in athletics. Seems like it would make more sense to encourage those types of donations.

I can’t think of any instance when we’ve fired a coach coming off a winning season.
AState has made two good hires since coming to Division I in 1972. Nelson Catalina and that fell apart eventually and Grant McCasland.
Got nothing to do with money or emphasis, it comes down to giving bad and mediocre coaches a lot of rope.

So, basically you are saying that based on history ASU will not fire a coach after an 18-11 season despite all the bitching on your message board.

You got it. If it happens, I’ll be flabbergasted. Remember we renewed Nutt after a 16-13 conference 7-7 season with three more years but a cut in pay. Four years before the renewal his conference record had been 5-9, 6-8, 7-7, 7-7
