RE: Bronco Baseball 2022
The fact is people don't care about the non-revenue sports enough to donate or buy tickets (where applicable). There's not enough money coming into this athletic department to spread it any thinner and if the AD decided to redirect money from the "big 3" and it showed in their results, they'd hear about it a lot more from the fans than they do about undersupported nonrev sports.

RE: Bronco Baseball 2022
Broncos handed Chimps their first home loss of the season Sunday to salvage one game of the series.

Still allowing runs (46 in four games) like it's our job though.

Now 13-18 MAC-seventh, 16-29 overall.

Host MSU Wednesday, Kent State (17-26, 12-17 MAC-eighth) this weekend.

No reason given, but I just saw that the Valpo game is cancelled.

It's so hard for me to get into a sport where the weather requires the first month to be on the road or rescheduled.

Ya, I hear you. I grew up in CO, hated early Spring ball. I can remember standing in the parking lot waiting for maintenance man to finish plowing the snow off the parking lot so we could practice. Dating myself here, as obviously we didn't have domes back then.

For me, I didn't get excited for the baseball season until I was able to break a sweat, which typically wasn't until late May.

BITD when we were winning MAC regularly and going to CWS it was a big deal.

Students would come and sit on the hill to watch.

Of course back then they were living on East Campus and there were single nine-inning games.

Yep.

Weekday games typically started mid-afternoon after students were out of classes and were done in time for them to get back to dining halls for dinner.

And Saturday afternoons there was rarely competition from Tigers on TV.

Take your girl or buddies, sit on the hill, root the Broncos to a win.

And still have Saturday night to yourselves (Coral Gables, Wayside, or Knollwood Tavern anyone?).

Times have changed and not necessarily for the better.

Broncos dropped three of four to Ohio U. to finish 18-36, 15-24 MAC-eighth.

Hard to say was a disappointing season when expectations are so low.

They finished third in the league last year.

Just curious…were there pitching staff injuries or just not a great bunch of arms? Had to be bottom 3 in runs allowed in the league. Seems like double digit runs allowed was fairly common.

Don't know about pitching injuries but in conference games we were ninth in runs allowed, tenth in ERA.

In other news WMU alum Rich Maloney, in his second stint as baseball coach at Ball State, guides Cardinals to MAC regular season championship.
