LaTech would throw a hissy over that. All they want to do is recruit and play in Texas. They would insist on being in the west. Without Liberty the whole thing could go west and put the center at about San Antonio. FIU is fooked either way but they have access to major airport so doesn't really mater to them.
It's not "ALL" we want to do...recruit and play in Texas...but it's a very important state for us. For whatever it's worth, our kids earn their degrees, graduate, and mostly move to Texas. DFW and Houston have higher concentrations of LaTech alumni than any city in Louisiana, sans Shreveport/Bossier.
That being said, for many of us, it's still pretty hard to get excited about trading conference opponents like y'all, USM and the AAC-6 for...Tarleton, SFA, and SHSU...even though they're geographically in a good location for us.
Sadly, we had no choice in the matter. Most schools don't return to conferences they used to be a part of. The Sun Belt wasn't a goal of ours, anymore than y'all would have wanted to return to the MAC.
We did return to the MAC. This would have been a 3fer if we'd gone there again. Wasn't pretty the 2nd time around. You don't know hate and contempt like we were shown in the MAC the 2nd time around, lol.
We have sympathy for LaTech but not a thing we could do about it, either. We had the opportunity to get out and we did. Unfortunately the only place to go that was at least on par with old CUSA was a place a few of you former members couldn't follow. It is what it is. The way some of the Tech fans went off on us makes me grin a little when I think about it, though. Ain't gonna lie.
There are Tech fans I don't engage with, either. There are Marshall fans who hated the Sun Belt...until y'all got invited there...now, those same fans hate C-USA.
I choose to remember the great Marshall fans I met in Huntington a few years back in the Championship game. Y'all couldn't have been more gracious hosts.
Bottom line: Fans gonna fan.
Thanks man. I remember giving several Tech fans beer from my case of Miller Lite. I also made my way into your section just before the half to thank you all for coming to Huntington.
We really mean that when we say it.:cheers

Texas Division
SHSU
UTEP
SFA
Abilene Christian
Tarleton
NMSU
Atexas Division
Jacksonville State
LaTech
FIU
MTSU
WKU
Liberty

meh... the CUSA I knew had Houston, UCF, ECU, SMU and Memphis. This latest CUSA from 2014 on I never cared about. They moved SoMiss and UAB to the west and stuck us with a bunch of unknown schools.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again. If you start or restart a football program then you should have to spend a min of 10 years in IAA. You hardly ever, well never see a program do well that moves to IA after little time in IAA and then a jump to IA. FAU had 2 winning seasons in IA before Lane Kiffin got there, FIU has still yet to put it altogether and just look how ODU fell apart after their first year.

RE: Ready to Move
I was tempted for a minute to give a couple of posters on the cusa board a big f u. A few in particular I do not like. There's the fau guy, one from wku and the know it all rice lawyer. But decided to take the high road and bite my tongue. That was a nice post Thunder and very classy and I echo those sentiments to the cusa posters....except the aforementioned three and clit. Here's to the dawn of a new era for Marshall athletics. Looking forward to the ride with you guys!
