The truth is CUSA is hanging on by a shoestring as an FBS conference. They know over there if there is movement in the next 2-5 years, say MT goes to the AAC and WKU along with UMass/Missouri State goes to the MAC then LA Tech, UTEP, NMSU are in deep crap. It might be easy for JSU and Sam Houston to go back and Liberty would just throw their dity money around as an indy again.

The MWC isn't going to take UTEP
The SB has already said "Thanks but No Thanks" to LA Tech
And I think NMSU was on its last legs as an indy, if not for CUSA, I think you would have seen them playing IAA football in the WAC in a few years.

After the Circus loses a few bowl bids and their media deal takes another hit, their only hope is Daddy Warbucks (Liberty) floating some money around.
I'm curious about NMSU. I don't know much about their football, but their basketball seems solid. Maybe they can improve enough to get a look from MWC?

But I agree with a few AAC teams getting fed up pretty quick. It'll be interesting to see if their media takes a hit if/when Memphis +1 leaves

And make no mistake... that money will be a loan that comes with more than just interest. You know.. hey here's $5 million guys, just to help everyone out. Oh by the way, we'd really like to host the football championship AND the basketball championship for this year and next, and possibly a third year 03-wink

New Mexico State is worse than Rice and UTEP in football. They have 4 winning seasons in the last 44 years that comes out to 1 winning season every 11 years.

And just think AAC only added on competitive school in UAB.

Also for years UTEP kept New Mexico St far away from them as a conference member even though El Paso TX and Las Cruces NM are only 50 miles apart. Since modern athletics has been a part of most universities identities (mid 1950s) UTEP and New Mexico State have never shared a conference together. UTEP actively kept New Mexico State out of the WAC from 1968 when they joined until 2005 when they left for CUSA.

They don't have a choice anymore. There ain't nobody else. I wish some of the WAC schools would not have been invited in '05 and kept it going. They should have made CUSA eastern centric in the old SEC footprint. It would have been a lot stronger and maybe had a stronger position in subsequent expansions. I do laugh that CUSA put all it's eggs in Texas and then lost like 6 Texas teams over the years. There is no stability that spread out and eastern teams have nothing in common with Texas teams.

I agree, I never seen any real value in SMU or Rice in 2005 nor UNT in 2014. I hear UNT has a nice music program as a degree and Rice and SMU have the academics but none of the 3 were athletics heavy.

With Houston still in CUSA after the 1st realignment I would have told them they get to have input in one Texas school and hope for SMU.

In 2005 if Im in charge of CUSA I would have went after Marshall, UCF, Temple, SMU, ULL and LA Tech. That would have also kept UTEP in the WAC

Both the Florida twins were way to new, just starting football 3 and 4 years before.

In 2014 neither of the FL Twins should have been one of the first to be ask. They should have taken ULL, Arkansas State, WKU, Middle Tenn, Appy State and GA Southern as IAA move ups.

CUSA is going to HAVE to add in Texas to shift all east of TX schools to the east to balance it as much as possible. I really don't know, something like:

Texas Division

SHSU
UTEP
SFA
Abilene Christian
Tarleton
NMSU

Atexas Division

Jacksonville State
LaTech
FIU
MTSU
WKU
Liberty

ANd the AAC has done just that... going from 2 Texas schools to 4 Texas schools. Now all the money in the AAC is in the West Division. It's gonna be a CUSA repeat with East schools getting ignored.

Back on topic, I wish this transfer of sites would go through. I throw up a little in my mouth every time I have to click on the CUSA dropdown to get here. I don't want to bookmark it til the link is right. 03-puke

If parody wins out like I think it will and no one come close to taking the NY6 bowl, I don't even give it 5 years, 3 at the max. And it will be lead by Temple and ECU, maybe Charlotte.

At that point they will want rid of the 10 million dollar exit fee which was put in place to keep the bell cows in UCF, Houston and Cincy. We see how that worked out. And you will see them whining and crying they want the mythical eastern based conference with Marshall, Appy and ODU.

At that point Im out of !@#$ to give and I'll give you my thoughts and prayers. Myself I have no desire to be in a conference with Temple, Charlotte has been a fraud from the beginning and most ECU fans have seen themselves better than the conference they were in.

The feeling is mutual, I assure you.

Thats cute, one of only a handful of Temple posters made it over here on a Marshall board that has maybe 6-7 posters on it right now, where we have been posting less than 2 weeks.

This is the same fool that tried to argue with me that Temple would be competitive with Marshall in men's soccer in July of 2020. Ten months later The Thundering Herd was DI College Cup National Champions.

Temple was 2-12-2 (0-10 In conference) last year. With wins over Manhattan (6-9-2) and Princeton (12-6)

Not to mention having the distinction of being the only school in history to be kicked out of a BCS conference, and for suckage at that. If Temple wasn't in Philly no one would give them a sniff.

And why would a mighty AAC poster even be worried about what the lowly CUSA/SBC team is doing???? Why would it lower itself to intermingle with us?

BE Member Temple was victim #4 for Marshall in 1999, when Marshall went 13-0 and #10 in the nation. A 34-0 loss for them.

Their gloating over taking a recruit Marshall was after in 2015 was funny as hell. RB TJ Simmions was down to Marshall and Temple, he chose Temple and their board was crazy funny. The guy red shirted at Temple and then disappeared from their roster the next year, never to play a down for them.

If you are a supporter of someone like Temple you are always looking over your shoulder or trying to down play others accomplishments. It's the only way you can feel good for yourself.

It's not "ALL" we want to do...recruit and play in Texas...but it's a very important state for us. For whatever it's worth, our kids earn their degrees, graduate, and mostly move to Texas. DFW and Houston have higher concentrations of LaTech alumni than any city in Louisiana, sans Shreveport/Bossier.

That being said, for many of us, it's still pretty hard to get excited about trading conference opponents like y'all, USM and the AAC-6 for...Tarleton, SFA, and SHSU...even though they're geographically in a good location for us.

Sadly, we had no choice in the matter. Most schools don't return to conferences they used to be a part of. The Sun Belt wasn't a goal of ours, anymore than y'all would have wanted to return to the MAC.

We did return to the MAC. This would have been a 3fer if we'd gone there again. Wasn't pretty the 2nd time around. You don't know hate and contempt like we were shown in the MAC the 2nd time around, lol.

We have sympathy for LaTech but not a thing we could do about it, either. We had the opportunity to get out and we did. Unfortunately the only place to go that was at least on par with old CUSA was a place a few of you former members couldn't follow. It is what it is. The way some of the Tech fans went off on us makes me grin a little when I think about it, though. Ain't gonna lie.

Without Liberty the whole thing could go west and put the center at about San Antonio. FIU is fooked either way but they have access to major airport so doesn't really mater to them.

There are Tech fans I don't engage with, either. There are Marshall fans who hated the Sun Belt...until y'all got invited there...now, those same fans hate C-USA.

I choose to remember the great Marshall fans I met in Huntington a few years back in the Championship game. Y'all couldn't have been more gracious hosts.

Bottom line: Fans gonna fan.
