I’m expecting Tony Toney to have a fantastic season next year. He has as much athleticism, if not more, as anybody on the team.

Tate should also see significant playing time next year.

I told Dee, I suspected that itd be him or Locure to be the 4th spot to open up if not both. It’s hard to be the 3rd big guy when you been looked at as a certain caliber of player for most of your career. We’ll see. Would be great to get him back this week.

Covid is pretty much over and we’ve had those two players no-show games. AD is actually confirmed hurt and he was out giving bounce passes in warmups.

Locure no showed 2 games because of covid protocal but has been on the bench and doing warmups the whole season. He is even one of the cheer leaders on the team bench. He is looking to get a redshirt for this season with a new rule that most think will get passed in the off season. He will be taking Mike's spot in the rotation next year.

Just curious. Is this something you know from the inside or is this just speculation? There’s plenty of that going around.

There is currently a redshirt rule that is being lobbied for next season to allow players to play 6 to 8 games and still be able to redshirt in college basketball. Similar to the rule currently in football. It is some speculation yes because the rule is not concrete but i also trust the person who told me this.

I was not talking about the rule, but your info about Locure and whether he is content to take his redshirt and come back next year. I really hope that's the case. I think he is a very good player and could have helped us this year, except AK really likes to keep the rotation tight.

Locure can’t transfer without sitting out a year so he might as well stay knowing he slides up the rotation bigtime with Quan and Ertel departing. If he can get a redshirt, even better.

Good for him and the team if he does. You say this like it’s a problem. Every coach in America would trade their best player at any position for a better one, no questions asked.

This is my thought as well. Since it seems like Johnson, Locure, and Tate aren't good enough to get minutes now I wouldn't just assume they'll get increased minutes next year. AK's history at UAB says he'll hit the portal to find a couple impact transfer guards to take Quan & Ertel's spots.

No way I would have done this with Aaron Johnson.
