Might be a “Come to Jesus” moment for Malcolm going forward if we were to win that game. Holmgren is the real deal but I ain’t scared of ‘em! This of course all is hypothetical ‘cause I think we might have a tough game or two to get there if they don’t give us a 16th seed.

so what happens for the other 18 minutes of the game after Malcom fouls out?

Bates could very well win us one game moving forward. He isn't playing. He hasn't been scouted. Someone like that comes off the bench and has a hot shooting day - that could be the difference in a game down the road.

I agree about might help us --I disagree on not having been scouted---I think he has been scouted since he was 5--I would think every college coach and scout worth their salt -knows his every strength and weakness --but I could be wrong

There is plenty of tape out there for him to be scouted. It is entirely possible he gets hot one game and knocks down three or four 3s and that is a difference maker. But unless he plays in the conference tournament this weekend I cannot imagine him making an appearance in the NCAA tournament. That does not seem like it would be good for him or the team.

I tend to agree, but things like injuries, illness, and foul trouble sometimes change game plans in a hurry.

Let's put it this way, I'd rather have Bates sitting on my bench than not have him there any day of the week.

Just because coaches know the tape on Emoni, doesn't mean they will have spent preciously limited team time reinforcing how to play him. I could see him coming in and having a big first half against someone.

I could see him getting a bunch of good looks.

And killing us on defense.

If he's ready to play, I wouldn't mind Penny using him off the bench during the conference tourney, with the caveat that he gets pulled quickly if he's not delivering.
