In the least surprising move this year, Georgia is "parting ways with" Tom Crean.

Didn't want to believe it, but it is indeed true:

Seems like he'd be a good fit there.

Here's a stat: Five former Kansas State coaches have made the Final Four (Weber, Bob Huggins, Lon Kruger, Dana Altman, Frank Martin), yet none did it at KSU.

3 new openings since yesterday to get us into the 20s.

How many more coaches will be let go as their teams are eliminated from conference tournaments?

Sometimes coaches aren't let go for another week or two. I'll guess that before the final four starts, there will be at least 6 more vacancies.

It's never easy to compete on an elite level with a blue blood rival in your state with a low population to begin with.

He was showing improvement this year. That job is a 4-5 year rebuild no matter who’s coaching.

No way. This isn’t 2006. You can get guys in the transfer portal and they don’t have to sit out. 4 to 5 years??? Only a program coming off that last Baylor type probation should be given 4 to 5 years to rebuild.

I'd imagine any power conference school that wants to cut ties will have decided by now or will decide in the next few days. I doubt say your school California will decide three weeks from now to fire Mark Fox, he will be evaluated now and they will make the decision whether to fire him or not. We've already seen East Carolina and UMass, high mid majors, already decide to fire coaches. It doesn't take four weeks to determine your head coach isn't the guy.

I think the 6 more vacancies will probably be those hot mid major teams that win a game or two in the NCAA Tournament like Porter Moser going from Loyola to Oklahoma last year.

David Cox was let go from Rhode Island Friday.
Cuonzo Martin was let go from Missouri on Friday too.

It will be interesting to see if the new hires are successful coaches from mid-major or low-major schools (or someone from below D-1) or an assistant from a highly successful program or a re-tread from another school who has had success in the past, but not necessarily atmospheric success.

This is true, if you can get the right candidate. But I'm skeptical that East Carolina can get the right candidate. They've had a winning record in conference play just twice dating back to the 70s and have made the postseason twice ever. It's one of the least successful programs around.

I'm holding out hope that Georgia wants to rehire Mark Fox. 03-lmfao

In addition, Will Wade is also gone.

Sounds like he will coach NIT and then be relieved.
