AAC: Early exit $$$
From reports out of Houston and Orlando, the current amount the AAC is telling the departing members they must pay in order to leave a year early is in the $30-35 million range each. The Houston report claims that is on top of the $10 million exit fee.

Really magnifies the conference financial differences - $40M to leave AAC early; probably $3M to leave CUSA early(barring legal issues)...

No way they'll get that much. I hope this doesn't create a hurdle for the 3 departing teams and keep us stuck in CUSA an extra year...

That's just the opening ask of negotiations.

...This is why we need to be throwing that 'first pick of the CUSA litter' talk around, so WE can 'make the move' in '23 regardless of whether the BIGXII-3 are still around... in fact, I'd LOVE to have those 3 still in the AAC when we show up, even for one year... we might get rolled by all three of them, but then again...

If the figure I saw is correct, the AAC TV package is $83m. They're not gonna get 3 x $35m.

When you negotiate you throw out the largest number possible. You don't start with the lowest.

That's not how it works.
