We Suck - Fire Josh Pastner
The "We Suck - Fire Geoff Collins" was so popular, figured I'd start another one. I should have created it a couple of months ago.

I keep having to pick other teams to pull for. Maybe baseball will be good to us this year. In the meantime .......

RE: We Suck - Fire Josh Pastner
I am surprised how difficult of a time Georgia Tech has finding a quality HC for its MBB and FB programs. This is a very good job IMO in both sports that put you in position to win right out of the gate. Not sure who is actually calling the shots there in Atlanta, but obviously they have no clue who to hire. I can not think of ties to GT who would be a quality hire, but I would go after someone who plays a very uptempo style and has a good recruiting background.

Football is a totally different story, but one that shouldn’t be all that hard to figure out especially with all the surrounding programs within Georgia alone. I mean there would be people willing to crawl there for this job or they should be. You get the right hire there the assistants you will see GT take off back to the front of the line competing for conference titles going to good bowl games than what it’s been.

Just have a hard time believing it’s this difficult to make the right hire, but then again who am I for Louisville's basketball is joke currently with no leadership from top to bottom to call any shots. Good luck finding the right hires.

Josh Pastner was hired by Mike Bobinski. That's really about all you need to know. The biggest positive of the hire was that Memphis paid half his salary for two years for him to go away from Memphis. He wasn't a popular hire when he came on. That hasn't really changed since.

Geoff Collins was hired by the current AD, and a broadly well regarded hire at the time. Bootstrapping a modern recruiting operation and culture has gone great. Everything on the field has been an unmitigated disaster. It appears with the benefit of hindsight GT went from a coach who was elite at X's and O's and woeful at recruiting to a coach that is elite at recruiting and woeful at X's and O's. Maybe we can get some of both next time.

I have to say, I forgot what a force GT was under Bobby Cremins until watching the doc last night. They were a perennial deep threat in the ACC Tournament.

I remember that James Forrest game, and I never really understood why he wasn't an NBA guy.

RE: We Suck - Fire Josh Pastner
I watched some of the Clemson game tonight, since it seemed like there was a chance we could win. Pastner seemed way too laid back. Almost like he didn't really care and the game was just for fun. Unfortunately, it basically was, but he should still coach with some type of intensity. He seems like a really nice buy, but I'd rather have a screaming Saban that wins.

Pastner is a wild eyed optimist. Even losing by a billion to Notre Dame he was full of positivity and upbeat. He'll get fired with a near smile probably.

That's a big loss. I'm surprised Oregon State has the financial resources to get him from GT.

He has lived on the west coast practically his entire life. He wants to be a head coach again. He can coach the **** out of a big. He can't recruit for crap though.
