Final Week of the Regular Season
#1 Toledo (15-3)
@ Buffalo
vs. Bowling Green
A trip to a generally unfriendly arena and a rivalry game to finish out the season. Nothing would surprise me. Most likely scenario is UT finishes 1-1 and finishes at 16-4 with the number one seed.
#2 Kent State (14-4)
@ NIU
vs. Buffalo
This appears to be a more favorable draw than Toledo's. The odds say that Kent State has to lose one eventually. Since I am intrigued by odds, I'll say 1-1. Kent State finishes 15-5
#3 Ohio U (14-4)
@ Bowling Green
@ NIU
On paper the Bobcats have a nice, soft ending. Trouble is both games are on the road. I think they take care of business and finish 16-4
#4 Buffalo Bulls (12-4)
vs. Toledo
@ KSU
Throw away everything that I said about Kent State and the odds. I have a feeling that Friday's game at the MAC Center is going to be a big one.

THE BIG ONE IS TUESDAY .... nothing means much unless that one ends as most would like. Has TRAP written all over it. Beware.
Get by that one then Friday is a 'fun' game, not a must-win game. Law of averages may indeed be creeping up on Kent, but if so, let it happen vs. a worthy opponent, not a lesser one.

We are going 2-0 this week. Hope UB will take care of the Rockets.

What a finish for our team the past month, and what a final week of intrigue for the league. Also, another strong game Friday night hopefully locks up POY and COY honors for Sincere and Sendy.

Hammer , as always right on the money.
They both deserve. Let’s not forget this team was 7-8 and we were all down in the dumps. Even Sendy!!
Kent winning POY rarely happens as you know. Only 3
2006. DeAndre Haynes
2008. Al Fisher
2011. Justin Greene
Ohio U has had the most winners 11
Toledo 7, Miami 6
BTW. Our Elite 8 season unbelievable as it seems Keith McLeod from BG won POY.
Also Sendy did not win the year we went to NCAA under him so he is overdue.
I’m assuming voting for both awards is media and we all know what they know

Keith McLeod was a good choice. He had an outstanding season.

I agree. If their was a team that got screwed that year it was BG. No way they shouldn’t have received a NCAA bid.

I believe the coaches vote on these things now. I don’t know about 2002.

That's true Burden. In fact, Heath said one reason he left after only one season was because the MAC is a one-bid conference. If BG had beaten KSU in the MAC championship game, I have no doubt KSU would have been NIT bound.

The MAC's last 2-bid was 1999 -- should have gotten two in 2002 (BG) and 2003 (Kent) ... really haven't had a true worthy No. 2 since. Although there were a few years where dominant teams were considered good enough if they were upset in the MAC Tournament ... but they weren't.

Right. In 1999 Miami had too good of a resume to be excluded. I doubt KSU would have been an at-large selection, though. Of course, it should go without saying that it's not happening this year, either.

Isaiah Johnson (Akron) [16.6 points & 7.1 rebounds)
Jimmy Hall (KSU) [19 points & 10.6 rebounds]
Akron won the regular season yet our 4th place team in the East won the conference tourney. We got spanked by UCLA in the NCAAs while they got spanked by UT-Arlington in the NIT.

We hardly got spanked by UCLA. Ended up about a 17 point game but we were within 5-6 points with about 8-10 minutes left in the game.

Oh yes. In the MAC Championship Game "Big Dog" couldn't move his feet to stay with Hall to save his life. It was good pure basketball skill against big, somewhat strong and slow.
And yes again, that KSU vs. UCLA game was competitive. It got away. Too many athletes in the powder blue and white.

Yeah, one of the dumb things about the award coming out before the championship and them always heavily weighing regular season record. We were 4th in the regular season which heavily stacks the deck against Hall. Now in hind sight we were the champions and Hall was clearly the better player.
