RE: 2022 Football Season
I'm nervous going into the season without having Crum in the back field. I'm sure Schlee or whoever wins the starting job will do a good job but it's still a big unknown.

I’m really going to miss Crum, I think he was a great fit for Coach Lewis’ FlashFast system. I also think the staff will miss him but are very excited to see what Schlee can do full time.

Any word on how the Spring Game went? Standouts, injuries, surprises, etc? Sad that we're able to find more news on a local middle school's athletics program than we can on an FBS football program and Division I athletic department.

Hammer, that’s because there is more interest in the middle school programs and they have a larger season ticket fan base.

Any idea if O lineman Nolan Rumler from Kent, Archbishop Hoban and Michigan transfer is projected to start?

This AD is failing miserably.

I think the AD is on Twitter more than at his desk or out in the community. He also tweets as much about other teams and schools as he does his own.

A prudent approach as the recently hired AD would be to over-communicate with regard to what is going on with KSU athletics. And not hide behind his mobile device. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Yeah, considering he’s still new at his gig, the Tweeter-in-Charge ought to be out there at events and being visible, not just piggybacking tweets from his couch. Somehow I get the feeling he’s thinking just the opposite and that if he’s liking or re-tweeting everything people would think he’s engaged.

The dumbing down of society. While I realize I make that comment from a message board, I don't get paid to give my two cents.

RE: 2022 Football Season
I don't use Twitter and have not since my last job. The first I heard about the spring game was when it was announced that it was moved in the Field House. I found out from the football team's Facebook feed. You'd figure the date would have been announced months ago and plastered far & wide with the success of the program.

Between the spring game and the poor fan showing at the MAC Tourney and at the away Akron game we are looking sloppy. Other fan bases have huge followings and are well organized. Kent looks old and stale.

Did anyone on here go to the spring game? I noticed this was the first mention of it on this board.

Old and stale indeed. And the worst part is they could even use cheap FREE labor by having student interns picking up the pace on social media or writing small articles. They just don’t care to create new engagement while those previously engaged grow further and further away. How many people even tune in here? Nobody cares anymore, and a new head on an old stale program should’ve breathed new life into a stagnant base, reach out to those that drifted away as well as bring in new followers, but he’s done nothing extraordinary thus far.

RE: 2022 Football Season
I attended the Spring "game". It really wasn't a game atmosphere. It was an open practice type of setting. I've been to several Spring games over the years. It was difficult to tell if the turnout was similar to previous years because of the limited seating in the fieldhouse. Most spectators were standing. I would guess there were about 500 people in attendance.

The players did not wear game uniforms and several did not have their game numbers on their practice jerseys so it was difficult to tell who the players were. There were no rosters provided.

During very limited game like scrimmaging, I would say overall our running backs looked very good (Cooper and Bradford). Schlee looks very athletic at QB (as you would expect). It was difficult to get a read on the backup quarterbacks as they did not appear to play with the first unit at all from what I saw.

The offensive line looked thin but I imagine this is because the incoming freshmen were not present.

Other than that I wasn't left with much of an impression positive or negative.

RE: 2022 Football Season
Thanks for that info, I guess that’s about what I expected, maybe even thought there’d be 1/2 as many in attendance. Hard to get a good feel from the spring games. Some guys are hurt or healing and not playing. QB1 might be behind o-line2 working with the 2 or 3s at RB/WR and going up against the #1 D (or any combination).

RE: 2022 Football Season
With Crum moving on to the NFL and breaking in a new QB I don't see us being close to #59 (21 spots behind Cincy), but USA Today does:

I wish they would show how good they are at predicting their rankings by showing previous years results.

126 out of 131 seems a bit high for Akron as well.

We won’t miss a beat with Schlee at quarterback.
