Game over as EMU does not score enough points to win games without stopping the three ball. EMU needs to force opponents into shooting two’s. Heath hasn’t got that concept and it’s cost EMU wins all season. .

Also, EMU is not a good three point shooting team and shouldn’t be taking as many as they do when a player is off. Spottsville and NScott should have stopped shooting three’s when they were 1-3 on three’s. Both are good two point shooters and should not be shooting mostly three’s unless they’re converting a high percentage of three’s from the outset.

Heath has to tell players to mix up shooting two and three’s.

Hopefully, EMU HC will change in their his approach in final two conference games, so SMU has chance to play in the MAC tournament.
Phenomenal points all around! A above average coach after 29 games would have seen this, and made changes on both sides of the ball! Heath has a losing career record after almost 20 seasons coaching, and unfortunately it shows! Compare him to Groce and Boals or Tod K..........All of them in year two had their teams win 20 games! I just don't see it with Heath! Yes, it's harsh after only one season, but his adjustments are none existent! If Noah wasn't on this team we would've won 5 games this season! Tod K his first year at Toledo was 4-28, in the past nine seasons he has won 20 plus games 7 of those seasons, the other 2 years, he still had a winning record! Boals and Groce MAC records speak for themselves! Can Heath do what any of these coaches have done?

Phenomenal points? I would vehemently disagree.

We were overmatched in the post with Sparks and subsequently had to double team him. I have ZERO idea how you force that kick-out pass to an open three-point shooter into a two-point opportunity. The concept of doing such defies logic.

Also, Nate Scott got off to a very poor start from the three-point line and thus should no longer attempt such shots? I just wish Miggy was coaching BSU, as their cold start would have stopped him from allowing the Cardinals to rain down all those long shots in the second half.

Glory Days, I was a Bronkema man from the start, I was disappointed with the Heath choice. That said, we are married to Stan for the next four years. He inherited a roster that just went 3-11 in conference and had little, if any offensive skills and athletic talent. Scholarship players Spottsville, Ballard, Okongo and Binelli are all nice young men who would been better placed in D2 programs. The talent cupboard was certainly bare.

Your comment about "adjustments" may indeed be valid. The "adjustment" that I see needed is improved conditioning. We don't seem to have the energy to "close out" on three-point shooters and chase down rebounds in the second half of games.

Nevertheless, Stan gets a free pass from me this year. One could say that is due to the fact that I have little choice to do anything else. While true, he landed a true super recruit in Farrakhan and plays a much more entertaining brand of basketball than EMU has played in the recent past. I like the program.

Next season, however, is a different issue. If I don't see more wins, I will be on your bandwagon.

Good post Jerry!!

Also add that Binelli is a D2 player and McBride is a very solid D1 role player. There was no talent in the cupboard after Groce left.

Bronkema vs Heath? While Murphy was stealing from EMU, I was a huge proponent for Bronkema to take over the program……that is until Heath entered the picture. Bronkema very well may be the next Braun and for sure it would be rolling the dice with him. Heath, on the other hand has taken three teams to the tournament and the latter two teams he built up. Heath also has national exposure with his G league credentials. Like many others on here, Heath has some questions that need to be answered during the off season and we clearly need to give him years 2 and 3 to formulate a body of work. The freshman will need to improve immensely to make us MAC contenders next season and we will need to add very solid low post player, shooting guard and small forward to improve and compete.

Lucky almost everything you said is spot on. I, however, want to see a minimum of a winning MAC record next season or I am in the Glory Days camp. The transfer portal has changed the expected timeline of a rebuild and when Stan signed the contract, he knew that. The name of the game today is recruiting, and most guys of Heath's age find their careers descending, witness Bob Knight, Roy Williams and now Tom Izzo. It requires a whole lot of energy.

All of that stated, Stan has four years to prove his wares as we don't fire coaches. Personally, I like the guy, I can't think of someone I would rather see succeed.
