It's been a bad second half of the season; maybe the last two-thirds. I was excited early and am disappointed that the team has seemingly deteriorated. The couple of yahoos talking about firing him need to get a grip. Same with those saying Davenport is a diva who is the type of player that gets coaches canned. We are year 1 with a young coach who had to cobble together a roster. A bumpy ride should not have been totally unexpected.

"Because of"?

No.

But I would say that "last sequence" was evidence of the fact that Wes Miller is an inept coach.

But hey...my parents always warned me about spitting into the wind. One of two things will happen: in a year...or two...or three...the Bearcats will be back on top of the CBB world and Wes Miller will be vindicated as a good coach. And I'll be happy for UC Basketball. Or, in a year...or two...or three...everyone on these boards will be clamoring for Wes Miller's firing...and I'll still look like an idiot. Thank God that I'm not Cunningham and nobody gave me the keys to this program...I'm just a Bearcat fan.

He has some great individual skills and seems like a great kid but the overall package ends up bring a collective negative too often. He’s like starting Hayden Moore at QB for 4 years and hoping to win championships.

All of this...there is a reason why we have been absolutely cooked by 4's throughout the year.

As much as I believe the guys running down Davenport are overly negative on him, I don't really know how anyone looks at that last play and thinks it says anything about Miller's coaching. It was a bad mistake by player, not, like, a dumb scheme or strategy or evidence of a lack of preparation.

That has nothing to do with coaching. Took a timeout to remind everyone what the situation was. 5 guys nodded their heads because it’s 2+2 level math. One then went full on vapor lock.

Miller tried to take the heat off of him for one that was impossible for even a newbie to the game not to sit up and say WTF? He’s a good coach for diving on that public grenade. I bet he put his foot through a door after that postgame.

My guess is that same foot did some more stomping the next day in practice too...Davenport's ears are probably still ringing.

If ECU wins at WSU we will finish in 8th place behind ECU.

That assumes loses at UH and SMU which is a lock.

Just finished reading the thread.

-Yes we should have never been in that position to begin with.
-Our last posession- DDJ should not have shot a step back 3 after a TO when USF has 8 fouls. Get something going to the basket. USF knows they can't foul, so go strong to the basket or at least dont step back (shot was too far away and was short). But as UC fans, we know at the end of games we always jack up a 3 when we only need 2.
-There is no way Davenport should have been on the floor for the final play.
-Ado should have guarded the inbounder. To me that was the obvious choice. Don't let the inbounder have a clear look.
-have 3 guys on the USF side so the pass must go to the backcourt and they are only left with a LONG shot at the buzzer unless we foul them, and they dont even get a shot off.
-Miller was definitely as responsible as Davenport due to several mistakes (see above).

Lessons took so well he walked up the court, was utterly lost on rotations (again) and let another of the guys he checked have a season/career high in points (yet again). It’s like Groundhog Day with the dude. I don’t know who the 4 is for SMU but he might want to call his friends and family to tell them to tune in because he’s about to have a big game Thursday night.
