Baseball was always the Belt's best sport. The addition of USM will help that. Don't know a lot about the "northern" additions. I would hope they could start getting 2 teams in fairly regularly. 3 would be tough with the P5 bias.

Not sure where you are getting this “northern” additions stuff. Marshall is in West Virginia true, but at about the same latitude as Lexington, KY. Don’t you have kiddos there? Do they think people in Lexington consider it “northern”? And last I checked, Virginia was not considered “northern” by anybody’s definition. I assume you didn’t include Southern Miss in your “northern” grouping.

I don't care if they are north, south, east, or west. My point was these schools are a heck of a long way from Little Rock. JMU is 864 miles, ODU is 1057 miles, while Marshall is a measly 684 miles. We just don't need to spend our limited resources on that kind of travel. The OVC may still add a couple of more teams, but right now our travel will be much more manageable.

Understood, but why didn’t you just say that?

Having lived my adult years in Little Rock (the vast majority), South Carolina, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Florida, Virginia seems pretty north to me. I was thinking from a geographical, not cultural perspective.
