Seems to be a very American trait. Once an opinion is formed you must never ever change your mind. I am a very loyal American and Tiger Fan; yet any day I change my mind I consider it to be a good day, because I learned something new. The "Only OCS crowd" is against a stadium anywhere but on campus or hard up against it. They mostly never give a dime to the University but think everyone who has to find parking and walk a mile to the stadium partially across campus and then can't buy a beer in the stadium is going to be overjoyed and contribute their paycheck to the U of M. They know this to be a fact because the believe it.

No, but it's included in forming my opinion of the proposed design. It looks like to be the proposal was drafted by someone totally unfamiliar with the site and the weather in Memphis. But I could be way off base. Maybe they are going to air condition the concourses?

Is that the side they’re planning to demolish? Because I’d imagine they would plan for any heat/sun/glare issues as they have at other stadiums with glass on the outside like that.

The University announcing a 150-200M investment in football infrastructure would have been unthinkable a decade ago. This is a glorious commitment to the football program and shows that leadership understands the importance of football to the university. The stadium plans look completely amazing, it will be world class and beautiful stadium. This is an amazing moment for our school. Yet many of you are crying because they didn't build a crappy high school stadium on campus instead?

Yesterday's tweet by the Boise State AD. Note the responses. Any relationship?

The timing of that is interesting. I could read into that optimistically or pessimistically, and I choose to do both.

Have you ever thought that maybe the glass is energy efficient and blocks the sun rays? My new windows, with glass, sure make a big difference with my house.

Come on man... get on board. Stop all the negativity.

I've always said if Memphis could handcuff itself to one school, Cincinnati would be the one to do so. Now that they have moved on, Boise State is probably the next best option.

what needs to be pointed out is in the rendering we see a fully renovated stadium, but if you listen to the words they say, they are planning on ONLY renovating the west side and IF they have the funding, they will then renovate the east side tower

There are multiple "ifs" in the announcement. Most important among them being the unknown source(s) of funds & management.

You have to wonder if one of the unspoken "ifs" is IF we get a Big XII invite. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Yep this occurred first with Crump Stadium and has been repeated with every stadium or arena the city has ever built. Desiring the stadium or arena to be built for reasons other than our university, the city has ALWAYS & REPEATEDLY turned to our university to make the venture feasible financially by requiring our university to become the primary or a major paying tenant. And this repeated pattern has caused our university irreparable harm. Not what you were attempt to convey? But it is the irrefutable reality of our university's misfortune of what might have been & the real proof of your assertion.

So why are you repeatedly saying folks are going to be stuck with this financial obligation to this "boondoggle"?

No one knows.

This is the real history of our major men's programs. It has not vaulted us to the top of college athletics. Continuing the pattern won't either. This is simply repeating the same mistake again. It's extremely frustrating, but once again we lay down and get raped.

About the same as UCF & Cincinnati, 7-8% less than Houston. The updated campus plan calls for 2500 new beds, nearly doubling what is currently available. That should bring us in line with the University of Bammer (percentage wise).*
