Kent State vs. Ohio
The Golden Flashes host the Bobcats from Athens Ohio on Friday at the MAC Center. Tip is scheduled for 7PM and the game is set to be televised on the CBS Sports Network. The Bobcats are the top team in the conference with a 13-2 MAC record and an overall record of 22-4.
Place your bets, pour a couple stiff ones and order your favorite local fare. Or, get to the MAC Center if you prefer.
GO FLASHES!

If you were one of the ones saying "I found entertainment another way than KSU Basketball" or "I'd rather not go," tonight is the time to come out of the snow. I believe the song goes: We're all together, let's go forward...

RE: Kent State vs. Ohio
For old times sake on this snow day in NEO and because our friends from Athens seem rather excited:
The Bobcats are paced by 6'1 soph-a-more guard Marc Sears. The Muscle Shoals Alabama product is averaging 20 points and 5 rebounds a game. I will be curious to see who gets the assignment of slowing down this POY Candidate. After Sears, it seems that Ohio's scoring punch comes from guys 6'5 or taller. One of those players, Xavier transfer Jason Carter, is questionable from what I can gather. He has only played 12 minutes in the last two games. But, 6'8 Senior Ben Vander Plas appears to be a nice presence inside averaging 14 and 7 per night. I feel like this is yet another dutchman in a long line of European bigs to call Athens home.
There is no doubt that there is more to OU (or is it Ohio U...I can never remember) than just these guys. Heck, they are 22-4 with 2 of those losses coming to SEC teams. But that is where the Flashes will have to start to beat the Bobcats. Enjoy the game however or wherever you are taking it in. And in case you (burden) are looking for a tip...
Kent State 77
Ohio 76
Sincere puts the icing on the cake with a late bucket!
PS - remember the night that Jordan Mincy couldn't freaking miss against these guys? I am sure that night on the bus ride home the OU braintrust was like...who would have ever thought he would be our biggest problem!
I wish I could find the video. Michael Reghi..."shoot it Jordan Mincy!"

It's interesting that the leading POY candidates are both guards have 3 years of eligibility left after this year (since last year didn't count). Could be a crazy good rivalry over the next three years... Or it could die quickly in the transfer portal.

You guys have been playing really well and Ohio doesn't win at Kent very often. Should be a fun game where I give a slight edge to the Flashes.
For what it's worth, Carter seems to have been troubled by a calf issue and they are doing "load management" on him. I don't think he'll play his usual number of minutes, but I would be surprised if he didn't see any action. The only thing Dutch about BVP is his name and heritage. He's from Wisconsin. He twisted his ankle badly at EMU and didn't return, but when Carter couldn't go against Miami, he stepped in and scored a career high 30 against the undersized RedHawks. Sears is a special player who feasts at the free throw line (91%) and initiates a lot of contact in the lane. In all four losses, he's been contained and had a subpar game. Toledo and Rollins in particular took it to him, but when he is on it's hard to beat the Bobcats. I'll be near the floor tonight spoiling your blackout with a nice splash of green.

Looking for our bench and depth to be the difference. And, at big plus to Sendy and his rotations.

Nice start. Rebounding and limiting the opponent’s looks may not be a next gen stat, but it’s working so far!
Side note. I wonder if Coach Senderoff likes wearing a t shirt or if he feels strange.

20 of 26 Ohio possessions have come up empty.
And here I thought they would make it a “home game”.

2 fgs for OU in the 1st half. That has to be an NCAA record. ?

Can we play Akron again this weekend? I honestly think Kent would beat them by 50.

Two opponents in a row, the top 2 in the standings, have been held to an incredibly low shooting percentage. That is awesome defense.

5-1 vs. Ohio, Toledo and Akron. Makes those home losses to NIU and CMU seem......bizarre.
