You are spot on. No land, $$$ for stadium, little patronage = game over.

My daughter played it is high school, but those games are the only ones I have ever attended.

If Rath's comment above is true that JC said they are exploring it, then I'll wait for him to explain the reasons why it would or would not be feasible.

They can explore away...there is just no amount of calculus done that can make that make sense.

RE: After the new IPF
Since this is about IPF and post work...I thought it was interesting, a high school (and not a large or particular competitive one) up in my neck of the woods just announced an all purpose IPF of their own. Nuts to think that a D4 high school in exurban Toledo, OH will have one before a P5 college with 45,000 students who just played in the CFP. Man we were really behind there.

In fairness to UC, they do have an IPF presently it just isn't a permanent structure, and building anything around/on campus is a challenge due to space limitations.

It’s so landlocked. They should take the FC Cincinnati route and build it off campus. Shuttle the kids out there.

I've thought the same thing for years for any number of ideas such as varsity tennis with scheduled shared usage by the team, our students, and residents of the city. The IPF will be a sizable structure but the park acreage might allow it to occupy an unused or underused footprint such as the northeast corner of Clifton and MLK.

The City of Cincinnati struggles to maintain existing infrastructure. Shared use and maintenance costs seem like a win/win.

Over the years, UC has already taken away half of Burnett Woods.

Burnet Woods, a major city of Cincinnati park adjacent to the University of Cincinnati main campus was created in 1874 as a reaction to various epidemics and the recognized need for green space for those living in congested urban areas. According to the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, “research shows that the percentage of green space in people’s living environment has a positive association with the perceived general health of residents.” The park is also beneficial to other species as it was deemed as an important migration site for various types of birds.

The park originally comprised 170 acres of land at the time it was purchased by the city from Robert Burnet and William Groesbeck. The park has shed acreage since its creation, a good portion of which as gone to the University of Cincinnati. In 1895 the University of Cincinnati acquired 74 acres while, in 1950, the University purchased the 18 acres where Rieveschel, Langsam and DAAP are currently located. Burnet Woods currently exists as a 90-acre park.

So, in the last 127 years UC has taken 18 acres (16.67%) not half. The prior 74 acres is ancient history.
