Not sure, if I agree with Bates comments. I think that kid would still be an asset this season. Penny just need to tell him, play without any pressure…I think he puts a lot of pressure on him and by doing so, he makes occasional mistakes or forced the shot. I love that kid.

Tries to play a little too much hero ball. Needs to loosen up and be a team player. It’s a role he’s not used to. He’ll do great things once he figures it out.

Agree. But that what coaches need to tell him and prepare him. He seems like a good and well mannered kid; and upon given proper guidance and mentoring, he will learn things fast.

He’s a great kid but he’s trying to overcome habits built over years and years at a relatively young age.
If we can keep him and he puts in the work this summer and plays with more “us” instead of “me” he’s going to be an incredible asset.

EB needs to devote LOTS of time in the weight room...he gets pushed around too easily on both ends of the floor.

Bates can't finish going left
Does not seem to be able to create space for himself
cannot finish through contact
gets overpowered by everyone.
these can all be corrected.
he has a VERY nice, effortless shooting stroke
handles the ball very well for a kid 6'8
is very quick for his size
i expect he will be back for the end of this year, and hope he is back next year.

RE: What experts (so called) are saying…
Bates will be our best player next year if he is here
Easy to forget he averages over 10 points a game
No question his mistakes on drives and defense and his weight offset his talent and he probably should have been brought along more slowly (no question so please)
But the idea that this thin having just turned 18 Uber talent is or will be some kind of failure is way overblown. Agree with the above that even this season he can contribute down the stretch. But yes, only if he stops inexplicable one on three drives etc.

RE: What experts (so called) are saying…
Hopefully, Landers, Tyler, Quinones, Dandridge & ALo are back next year & Penny can add a couple of capable transfers to compliment.
I’m not banking on Emoni. His fall will precipitate displaced blame from his camp, and that will likely fall on Penny’s shoulders. He’ll need a fresh start in hopes of resurrecting his draft status.
Duren will be a top 5 guy & DeAndre will, hopefully, find a pro team that appreciates his game as much as Tiger fans have over the past 2 years.
Would selfishly love to see Minott back next year, but if projects to be a 1st round guy, I’d expect him to pursue the currency.
