This doesn't factor in the fact that Harris's lack of height (3" shorter than Lomax) has people easily shooting over him far more often than Lomax.

wtf do those stats have to do with anything?

Neither one of them seems able to stay between the ball and the basket. They are both too busy swatting at the ball, usually swatting at the air, then watching their man's ass as he dribbles right past them.

Unfortunately that's a problem for several guys (including Lomax & Harris), almost to the point that I think it's taught to go for the steal more than emphasizing to stay in front of the man guarded. I think this is a key reason we can't beat SMU, it plays right into their game.

There's no doubt that they could improve their approach and stay between their man and the basket more consistently. In spite of them having similar flaws in their game, Lomax is frankly the better defender, not least of which is due to the extra height.

They're both relatively short, they both get used at times because they are short. Don't think height is the difference, Lomax is stronger, heavier & relatively speaking a better defender but he does have a problem staying between the ball & the basket just like Harris.

No doubt he's stronger and heavier, but I can't see how several inches in height can't help. I don't have any stats to back it up, but it seems the opposing team shoots easier over Harris based on watching the games.

Other teams go after Harris when he is on the floor...That in itself lets you know who they think is the worse defender.

But on offense teams actually fear Harris...To the point they actually have to think about how they are going to guard the screen and role...Or they actually have to respect a head fake at the 3 point line which leads to open Alley Oops for Duren.

If Lomax could hit a 3 point set shot or a hit a consistent pull up jumper at the FT line this comparison wouldn't be close. Since he cannot it is close...

Don't disagree but it's relative. Both would do better to just stay between the ball & the basket.

RE: Lomax
Don't disagree. The one aspect of Lomax's game that frustrates me most is his lack of an offensive threat. It really stifles our offense and creates too many opportunities to double-team.

It's not such a black and white decision, but I still prefer Lomax over Harris as a starter. I do wish Lomax would take more shots when he's driving, but it is what it is at this stage.

If Lomax was just willing to shoot and only made 30% it would still be good enough to make the defense at least think about him. For whatever, he is not willing to consistently shoot wide open shots. That would significantly change how the defense played with him on the court.

Not as bad as I thought it was ... still made some perplexing plays in the game

There were several plays he screwed up, just didn't hit the stat sheet. He is not a good point guard.

Everybody screwed up last night, even Duren threw bad passes or had the ball stripped under the basket. Did you watch the game?

Asking if I watched the game is so cool. And Duren is a 18 year old and not a 4 year point guard.

He made several really strong plays that didn’t show up in the box score, like having no chance at a rebound but getting a hand on it so another Tiger can get it. Not getting the steal but forcing the Temple player into a steal.

With some players “fans” seek out their good contributions and ignore their errors
With Lomax so many focus only on his errors

Disgraceful

It was a legitimate question. I wasn't sure you actually watched the game, singling out Lomax for mistakes I saw many players making. Comparing a legitimate lottery pick candidate to a man who plays for the love of the team and the game is just as silly. One would expect one of the top players in the country to be more skilled.

You never miss a chance to show how ignorant you are about basketball. It is hilarious to me.. Stick to hockey, but I am sure you are just as ignorant about hockey as you are basketball.

That's very mean of you, but you are kind of ignorant about how the stats work, and you will say literally anything to push whatever weird agenda you are promoting.

12 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals 1 turnover. Scored 5 points in like 3 seconds.

From the CA article, it sounds like neither Harris nor Williams are "walking" which I interpret to mean graduating. Shouldn't they both have an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID season?

Harris, Williams and Lomax can all return next season (due to COVID).

Which do we think actually will?

I would assume DW is gone (will be 26).

I'm hoping Lomax and Harris return.

Maybe Harris is coming back...maybe they all decided to let Lomax walk alone. So he would get all the applause... Just a silly passing thought.

RE: Lomax
Lomax has improved his game greatly this season, his presence is hard to mistake as a true leader in person and close up.

Harris and Lomax completely destroyed the USF guards defensively when they were on the court together. Seeing them break down those guards in person was incredible. Instead of talking about how those two short players etc - those two "fast" players can pay huge dividends now that they have found a groove about themselves.

Impressive team that Penny has out on the floor right now. He is coaching his butt off with a fire and passion.
