RE: C-USA Releases Official 2022 Football Schedules - Includes SB3
Contractual law wins out. As easy as that. SB3 are contractually required to be C-USA members for another year. personally, it makes no difference for me. My problem here is not with the conference entirely. Surely, they could have had a more amicable divorce with the SB3. For whatever reason this has not happened, ergo, SB3 have to play this schedule or pay. And the question is how much (and who will suffer the most).

There are no real losses, as they can schedule 11 conf games very easily, with ‘equitable’ type teams. So if they don’t lose any games, and the quality of the games are the same, what is the loss? Why have they not wanted to negotiate this? Do they really think if this goes to court or arbitration that they can prove damages, etc that will make all this worth it for them? Or that not how it works?
It's not about dollar amount when figuring the damages, and this is explicitly why there aren't numbers given. Whole is whole, 14 not 11. At minimum TV partners would lose access to 24 football games, 108 Basketball games, and 90 Baseball games. In addition to additional travel requirements for the three teams losing all sports travel partners. CUSA has no reason to negotiate as there is clear protocol on terms for exiting. If it goes to court then history and precedent are certainly in the conferences favor.
It isn't 24 football games (same with the others) unless you lose both teams playing in the game. Except for the ODU/Marshall game, the other half will still be there, just playing each other instead of the SB3. That makes it 13 lost football games. It's similar for the other sports, but I'm not going to do the math on those.

What? If the Sun Belt had been the conference to offer WKU/MTSU then you'd have a point. They got what they wanted and picked a FCS team over taking another of the C-USA schools. They seem to have avoided going for the deathblow.
There's going to be bias on both sides, and had Troy been willing to stay in the East, Tech would have been right beside you in attempting to torpedo the conference (with intent or not that was what the moves did). The media and departing members and their new conferences were already writing the epitaph for the conference and sharing every social media post where some school told CUSA no thanks. Relishing not having to pay an exit fee... I'm sure the other fans of the "ICU5" as many so lovingly named us recall those conversations and the very real conversations going on in determining how long we could self-sustain as independents.
You wanna know why Tech "burns bridges"? We watch people dance on our grave before we our dead and then we don't die attempt to gaslight us into why we are the bad guy. The talks of Tech turning down USM future scheduling are you certain that wasn't in regards to olympic sports for this coming year where Tech told USM we're not interested in playing conference members OOC? That it could have had nothing to do with not wanting to play USM in the future, but rather not wanting to engage in talks and the possibility of being named as being willfully compliant in their attempts to breach the contract? Just hyperbole of course.
RustonBulldog said that was said on the Sun Belt board. If so, I missed it,. No idea.

Please put a dollar amount on what is astronomical. Just like a test, please show your work.

That will be up to the attorneys. Of course they will describe the amounts as "reasonable and customary" for superior services rendered.

Ok what is your definition of astronomical? You guys are acting like the media deal is sec sized.
Seconded, that was a great interview kudos to Marc on the questioning as well.
Riley, after hearing Chris' take did you as a fan of Marshall get any clarity or better understanding? Feel better/worse about getting out early and potential liabilities incurred?

Finally Rice plays North Texas during State Fair so we can have a weekend of corn dogs and Rice football.
We should move the game to the Cotton Bowl. It would draw a larger crowd at the State Fair.

It's personally a highly valued term and I most certainly would have been prepared to note that. However, due to your attempts to lobby for said rep it has diminished and devalued the original content ergo these two posts have rep cancelled each other. Good day sir.

I think it was a good interview to allow people not invested into the story a better picture...
It's to be determined what happens next though....
I've always felt we would pay the fees and move about our lives. I believe we will be in the Sun Belt in 2022 after paying those required fees.

Agreed. We're 100% playing in 2022 so all the bickering is just that. Just have to see what it costs us. I don't like the long breakups and this one seemed like it would be (on it's surface) a simple one given CUSA having plenty of time to make schedules (well, back in Dec), and having 11 teams left, all that jazz. I figured this was going to be "Ok cool, give us X. Good luck!" but it certainly doesn't appear to have played out that way.

Lol, to counter...as I get older, my back is 100% getting weaker, my knees 100% crack a lot more and 100% my four girls are wearing out the Encanto soundtrack.
