RE: Elon @ JMU hoops
Seemed like the long break was a pretty major setback and then any hope of fully bouncing back was squashed by the injuries. Of course that's kind of an optimistic view, could also look at it as opposing coaches figuring out this team and JMU failing to adjust or even just some luck going our way earlier in the season.

RE: Elon @ JMU hoops
I highly encourage taking a look at the SR page for the team, just by looking over it during my lunch gave a lot of insights to what is happening.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sch.../2022.html

  1. Our 2 Point defense (2P%) is one of the worst in the country
  2. 3PT Percentage against us is middle of the pack, however we allow some of the most attempts in the country. Even if a team doesn't make it at a high clip we give up some of the worst in 9 3FGM per game because we allow so many attempts (more attempts mean you are allowing opposing teams an easier time finding their true percentage instead of having a small sample fluke night). The "make them beat us from three" philosophy worked when I played 6th grade basketball, not sure how I feel about it for D1 basketball.
  3. Chuck Falden attempts about 3 less three's per game (almost half the total attempts) than Vado but outshoots him 44% to 36%
  4. Morse is one of our worst shooters from 2 (there are so many times he takes out of control crazy floaters that rarely stick)

Here are the following player efficiency ratings
  1. Sule (22.5)
  2. Cam Holden at Towson (21.0)
  3. Amadi (20.0)
  4. Edwards (18.9)
  5. Molson (18.8)
  6. Falden (16.4)
  7. Morse (16.3)
  8. Hodge (13.3)
  9. Wooden (13.1)
  10. Strickland (11.0)
  11. Ihenacho (8.7)
  12. Savage (4.5)

It is possible that Strickland and Ihenacho see a downtick because of their poor shooting but I have been very impressed with Edwards' progression from last year. Losing Molson was huge of course but something doesn't sit well with me when I see Falden, Morse, and Wooden all sitting so low.
