3 is probably better logistically but 4 was kinda fun. It worked out great last year RPI wise playing travel partners twice as our 4 best teams happen to be two sets of partners and got 8 games against the other

Ha! You and I are probably the only people who liked the 4 games. With two on Sat + two on Sun I could get over to God's Country in time for both games, make Sunday a long day, but get in all 4 games. I can't do Fridays, so I'll only get 2 games/series this year instead of 4.

I loved the weekend double headers. Helped that ODU was playing so well last year but my group had a blast going to those weekend games last season.

I loved 4 game stints too. That was definitely more fun.

All reason to believe those four will be at the top again this year. Hopefully all playing postseason again.

Southern Miss has series with all three of the other expected top teams (but not FAU, who I would expect to bounce back this season), which is exciting :) What about the rest of you? Who is missing who? That could be the deciding factor in the regular season, though RPI is higher by playing each other.

I really feel like our coaches wasted that in our Regional. We used multiple starting pitchers in the opening game loss. For most of the season we struggled to hit the first game of every series, which meant close wins and losses on Friday's that weren't due to bad pitching. I'd have started our #3 or 4 guy and I certainly wouldn't have wasted multiple starting pitchers on a game we weren't hitting worth a crap on. *sigh*

USM always has good pitchers (coach Ostrander). With LA Tech and usually Rice in the West, then ODU, Charlotte, and FAU in the east that's 6 contenders. Others are certainly capable, but nobody will have time to get lazy. Do that and you'll eat a string of L's in a hurry in CUSA. It is nice to see RPIs remain strong week to week as well as the Top 25 rankings.

Tech has a rough CUSA schedule playing @USM, @Charlotte, and @ODU. We host Rice and FAU. To open the season we play traditionally good Wichita St, LSU, and Tulane.

Two weekend starters, a key closer and the best hitter (CF freshman) on the team (best avg and power on team, led nation in RBIs), but thats about it. We should be pretty loaded at pitching again, likely even deeper and our hitting should be better overall.

Scroll up to usm99's post, as he covered it perfectly. Most of our team returns, but we definitely lost some stars.

So that confirms that the top 4 from last year all play each other and it looks like LaTech has the toughest road. What other teams rise up (FAU and Rice have been mentioned) will also possibly change that though.

I think we are a little overrated this year. However, I think we will squeak in a SEC regional as a 3 seed…

Sounds like Southern Miss is going to be a handful. I know ODU is scheduled to be there for 3-games Fri - Sun, May 6-8. It should be a good experience for both teams (especially so for ODU) with the CUSA Tournament being held down there just over two weeks later.

How many RBIs did your Freshman CF end up with? Our right fielder (Garriola) had 72 for the season, and at one time late in the season the announcer doing the radio broadcast said he was leading the nation in RBIs. We're happy to have him back for his senior season.

RF - Andy Garriola (SR), .318, 14 HR, 72 RBI

Nice. I especially love the classic full pin stripe ones like #47 is wearing. One of the best in ncaa if you ask me. Other than those that aren’t vermilion and white of course, lol.

This is the one sport where I wish Liberty were joining early. We will miss out on playing the departing schools. We are borderline Top 25 in most of the preseason polls .. some in and some just out. For whatever reason we don't play ODU this season. Perhaps come regionals time.

I doubt they'll be very good this season, but UAB hired a very capable coach this season and I can't wait to see what kind of progress he makes in the coming years.
