Ole Miss To Conclude Homestand Tuesday Against Arkansas State
Rebels to play Memphis at AutoZone Park on Wednesday.

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will conclude a nine-game homestand Tuesday evening with a 6:30 p.m., contest against Arkansas State at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. The Rebels (9-5) will then travel to Memphis Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m., game with the University of Memphis Tigers at AutoZone Park.

Ole Miss enters Tuesday's contest with the Indians coming off a three-game sweep of New York Tech in Oxford this past weekend. The Rebels won the first two games of the series 3-1 and 5-1 before erupting for 25 hits in a 24-0 win on Sunday.

Redshirt freshman left-hander Eric Fowler (0-0, 1.64 ERA) is scheduled to make his second start of the season against Arkansas State, and redshirt freshman right-hander Anthony Cupps (0-0, 1.42 ERA) is slated to start Wednesday evening's contest with the Tigers.

Freshman first baseman Stephen Head enters the week ranking second in the Southeastern Conference with a .472 batting average. Head also leads Ole Miss with two home runs and is second on the team with 12 RBIs.

Freshman third baseman/outfielder Brian Pettway is coming off a 9-for-11 weekend at the plate against New York Tech and is batting .733 (11x15) with four doubles and eight RBIs over the last five games to raise his average .394. Senior catcher Charlie Waite is batting .375 and is currently riding a career-best eight-game hitting streak.

Arkansas State is 5-9 after losing 2-of-3 to Lamar University this past weekend in Jonesboro, Ark. Senior catcher Zach Shipley leads the Indians with a .389 average and junior third baseman Brad Hayes is hitting at a .350-clip with a team-high four home runs.

Senior right-hander John Anderson is scheduled to start on the mound for ASU Tuesday. He is 0-3 with a 7.62 ERA in five appearances, including four starts, this season.

Memphis is 3-7 after being swept in a three-game series at UNLV this past weekend. The Tigers have not yet announced a starting pitcher for Wednesday evening.

Following the two midweek games, Ole Miss will open SEC play Friday with a three-game series against Kentucky Wildcats in Oxford. Friday's contest is set for 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

Both the Arkansas State and Memphis games will be carried locally in Oxford on WTNM Supertalk Mississippi 105.5 FM. Air time is 6:05 on Tuesday and 6:35 on Wednesday.
