Douglas County (CO) Teachers Having a Temper Tantrum
A Colorado school district was forced to cancel classes after teachers called out sick to protest the new conservative school board

Quote:A Colorado school district was forced to cancel classes on Thursday after teachers called out sick. The teachers are protesting the new conservative school board, a union spokesperson told Insider. The district said absences had "impacted our ability to provide a safe and supervised learning environment for students."

Quote:In November, four seats on Douglas County's school board were up for grabs in an election, and a quartet of conservative candidates raised hundreds of thousands of dollars more than their competition. The four individuals — Mike Peterson, Becky Meyers, Christy Williams, and Kaylee Winegar — all now sit on the seven-person board. The Douglas County Federation spokesperson told Insider that one particular grievance the union had with the new school board members was the decision made by the conservative-majority in late January to weaken the district's educational equity policy.

I'm sure that somewhere out there there are teachers who still just want to teach, not indoctrinate. Fire every one that doesn't show up when notified to return - after following established process for firing someone in that position - and go after some older folks. I am very pleased to find that suddenly those skills I thought were obsolete have come back into fashion and I am entertaining a position which will put me back at what I was earning when I retired from AT&T management.

The funny (ironic) thing about that is the new board actually wants to have every student treated EXACTLY the same rather than singling out groups........ Equity means different things to different people; and to these teachers "Equity" and "the same" should not be spoken in the same sentence.

I wouldn't want those teachers teaching my kids AT ALL.

Although good conservative parents teach their children as well.

That’s why it’s “equity” and not equality.

A losers fancy word for reparations of a sort. Also another euphemism for segregation

Seems those "teachers" are mad at the wrong people. They should be upset with all the people that didn't vote, not the people that won. Bad example for the kids.

Shouldn’t they be upset with the voters who elected that board? Especially those who perhaps pay property taxes that pay their salaries? Hmmm.

IMO, this situation says more about the quality of teachers in that town than anything else.
