I hope he has some leads on some big strong guards like Toledo and Ohio who can shoot and dribble. Our guards are situational: two can play awesome D but can’t shoot.

Mo is coming along.

Long way to go…..

Some of us said conference play would be tougher than many thought. Said it as soon as late summer. Let's hope the rest of February improves our results.

No one with a shred of basketball knowledge thought Heath was going to undo the damage that Murphy inflicted on the program over 9 years. The whole culture has to be changed and I think Heath will be successful in time. Any winning done this season is a bonus.

Kowalczyk's first season at Toledo was 4-28(1-15)

Yes, they play 20. Luckey’s posts are great, but this repeated mistake should change.

And I still think a 6-4 finish is possible- maybe likely. That would be a 9-11 record which isn’t great, but may get them into the MAC tourney. The key is stealing a game from Kent this Saturday.

Oops thanks for correcting me Ramy. For whatever reason, I thought we only played 18 conference games :-)

Someone please explain how EMU beats Ball Stare handily, then EMU loses big to Ohio, followed by Ball State then beating Ohio?

But we didn't beat Ball St. in the only game we've played this year.

We are certainly going to be better than last years horrible 6-12 and 3-11 record and the previous year's 6-12 conference record although we finished at .500 overall that year. Patience, Rome wasn't built in a day and EMU basketball will not be rebuilt in a single season no matter how much hype is spread on this board. I believe Coach Heath and his staff are on the right track.

Great post 79!

I was hoping we would finish 4 games over 0.500 but that’s not going to happen. I believe we can finish 5-5 the last 10 games and have an 8 win season. With that said, if our players are healthy, I hope the freshman get some minutes to build on for next season. Specifically Jihad and Luka are my question marks. Jihad I believe is only 18 years old. Will he be a piece to our puzzle next season? Does Luka have enough skill and dedication to be a starting guard in our league?

I love McBrides defense and how hard he plays but he, like Spottsville, aren’t consistent shooters. We know what we have with these two players and Spottsville is gone after this season.

I thought Mo actually played well against Ohio. Golson can be an All MAC player in a couple seasons.

Noah’s potential is unlimited if he hits the weight room and if Heath can get him some guards who are shooters and compliment Noah’s game.

And Ohio beat Ball State 87-63 on Tuesday.

Edit: Just saw your post Lucky. I agree re:Golson. I like his game and potential.

'79, I agree with you, to an extent.

Please, however, don't compare our overall record last year to this one. Murph stomped on powers like Adrian, Olivet and Calvin to get to that .500 record.

Is Stan on the right track? I'm dubious but he certainly is on a "better" track. We play a more exciting brand of basketball and Farrakhan and Golson, while freshman are locked into EMU having transferred once already. I like the way another locked in guy Jihad bangs underneath as well. The big question is: do Njie, Luka, Rice, Randall and Jihad actually improve or are they the same as when they arrived?

Actually Jerry the .500 season under Murphy was TWO years ago when we had Toure. Yes we on a better track which was the point of my post.

That .500 team two years ago has some nice quality non conference D1 wins before conference play started.
