They are saying:
Quote:“Last week, confidential legal correspondence between Jackson State and Summitt Management Corporation was leaked, which did not reflect the ongoing communication between the parties,”

So they were working on this letter still, and someone mistakenly sent it out. I guess the cat is out of the bag. This explains the typos/etc, because surely they would have looked over it more thoroughly before it becoming official.

This had nothing to do with Coach Sanders. Jackson State has wanted out of the game for years now due to the payout or lack thereof. Jackson State accounts for about 70% of the crowd but yet was getting the same payout as Tennessee State. Jackson State went to the table and asked Fred Jones for increase in payout and that request was declined.

Jackson State averaged over 42k per home game this past year and over 36k in 2019.
Their attendance is impressive especially for a FCS school.

How many did Mississippi average in that stadium when it was their co-home field (before they had lights and seats at Vaught-Hemingway)? Bet it wasn't much more.

Jones was bending the schools over and not using lubricant.

In 28 years JSU only got a total of $6 million for playing in the SHC.

We pay 1aa buy-games more than that.

I obviously don't believe you, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

It’s $6 million total over 31 years according to this article (and that includes money to the bands):

Did Fred hold a gun to their head and make them sign the contract?

RE: Jackson State withdraws from Southern Heritage Classic games
JSU was clearly terminating the contract. It was titled as “Notice of Contract Termination.”

Jones clearly said there was no ongoing conversations. JSU was going to be hit with a major lawsuit for breach of contract and they would lose. Likely we hear about a buy out for the remainder of the contract.

The SHC will go on.

The Game was going to be played just Jackson State wasnt going to be a part of it. I'm hearing rumblings that either Grambling or Alcorn State will replace Jackson State in the game starting in 2023.
