RE: OSU transfer
I doubt he thought Tycen would be the NFL guy off his HS defense. But hes got amazing tools. Just needs to reel em in and play smart. After a late hit on a pick 6 I believe? vs. Oregon, he never played after that. Or sparingly before he made the choice to leave.

He played so little at Ohio State, you have to wonder how long it will take his skills to recover.

RE: OSU transfer
Burrows was a third string QB at osu, and went on to win a national championship and Heisman Trophy at LSU. Maybe Dallas is the next Joe Burrow.

RE: OSU transfer
One thing about Gant is that he is a serious student and I wonder if that hurt him at OSU. If he was more locked in on football would they have played him more. Going to law school at UT. His mom is an elite educator as well.

RE: OSU transfer
Eh that "more academic than thou" seems too much like a shot at players playing ahead. Who is to say they aren't just as interested in their academics and I would presume any transfer in wouldn't be any less interested in Academic here than from whereever they came. If it got in the way there, it will get in the way here. Is what it is and that's good enough for me. No shots at anyone else.

I'm not fan of portal but a player coming home is just one correcting an earlier mistake fars I'm concerned.

Some QB named Ealy was a down the bench guy at Alabama. Transferred and did OK at his new school.

RE: OSU transfer
UT had a football player several years ago that tried to do football and law school at the same time. He quickly decided to work on a Masters instead. First year law school is a full time endeavor. Not a lot of hours left for practicing and working out. I wish him luck and maybe he can do it, but it will be awful tough.

He played so little at Ohio State, you have to wonder how long it will take his skills to recover.

But, he competed daily against some of the best talent in college football. Gants issues at OSU were that he had a hard time staying healthy. Dallas missed all of last springs practice as an example. If Dallas can stay healthy and compete he can play at UT, Michigan, ND or OSU. This is a big, rangy, fast athlete that everyone in the country wanted coming out of HS.

I really think that was the more likely. Get healthy, stay healthy and let the competition begin.

Gant reportedly played in every game his 1st three seasons. It was this last year that he was hampered with injury.

In retrospect, I wonder if the young man has many regrets on becoming a Rocket from the git go regardless of his many memories and opportunities given, down in C-bus...
Regardless, glad he is a Rocket now !!

his mom and I are old friends and at least from her POV it was a fun ride. lots of big games, trips to classic stadiums and fun environments, and still not too far from home. sounds like he wants to add a hometown hero postscript to his OSU career.

Really hope he’s recovered from his injury. Will be fun to watch

Law school is a load academically! Will he have to have a minimum class load? Can't remember anyone in Law School and playing FB. Be interesting to see how it all plays out!

It's not that tough and not that tough to get in. He will have no problem playing and keeping up with law school given his background as a student. Plenty of undergrad programs that are tougher than law school.

clearly, he likes to read and will be doing lots of it. that we can all agree on. should be a good MAC linebacker. we look solid in that key position group.
