Hate to say it because none of this is Bates's fault but we were a better team last night than we might have been with him on the floor.

RE: Emoni Bates BOH?
Coaches don’t make a player better, did “Cal” make D-rose better no, did coach “finch” make Hardaway better, no these are special talented players, no one makes them better, lebron, Garnett, Tracy mcgrade, all of those guys are special, I can go on and on, you think Rick Barnes” made KD, Adrigde and those guys he had better, you think that the coach at Indiana State made “ Bird” better, or the coach at Michigan St made “Magic” better, or who made the “Dr” better, no one, these are special program changing players, all a coach has to do is get them to come to there programs, there are no program changing players playing today, these kids now are at best NBA role players, Minotaur came here with hood tools, and he will leave here with the same good tools, he mite get better at the next level and he mite not, same with “Precious “ “James” and some of the other kids that got drafted in that class at the top that we have forgotten about, but a “coach” in my opinion does not develop a player, it’s in the genes and hard work, who develop “Morant”

Emoni is back.. Glad he is.. but he still might transfer at the end of the season.. We'll see.

P.S. It was pointless he leaving now.. it was only gonna hurt his stock.

Yes we were.

Emoni was gifted a starting spot… he did not earn it; and it poisoned the well. He was given what Josh had to earn; and everyone saw it. He’s a defensive liability, takes ill advised shots in the offense & cannot get to the rim without falling down. If he’ll accept a 10-15 minute per game role, then fine; but he does not deserve minutes over Tyler, Landers, Lester, Josh or Earl. If he does, then Penny is placing Emoni’s father’s demands over the good of the team.

Personally, I think he should transfer. He needs a coach who will force him to earn his minutes; it’s the only way he’ll really improve.

I don't understand why Penny made Minott worked for his minutes, but he decided to babysit Bates.. No player should be above the team.. That's probably why he decommitted from MSU.. Izzo didn't promise him sh*t.

I’m sure minutes & starting role were part of the initial agreed upon arrangement.

Yeah I think that’s bs. That must have meant he was 6-6 when he got here because he might be 6-8. Maybe.

I know the staff has said Minott measures right at 6-10 now so he’s definitely grown.

It always makes me laugh when posters get an idea in their head and then completely make up nonsense to try and support it. Bates averaged 16 points on 15-26 shooting and 9-18 from outside his first three games. He was turning the ball over, but that was to be expected as a 17 year old.

For posters to say that he wasn't earning it in practice and hadn't earned a starting spot when CLEARLY he was killing it in the first 3 games, is ridiculous. Keep making stuff up though, if it makes you feel better.

Agreed. Now if he had been as developed as Duren then Penny might have pulled it off. Someone had to have seen that he wasn't ready.

Same jabroni that said Penny is great because we were 18-4 if you started at a certain point last season and went through to when we were 5-1 this year. Guy picks random ass stats to try and make bad arguments.

The first three games were against cupcakes. Until we played VATech we didn't face any competitive teams, maybe WKU before VATech.

Sorry, he was given a starting spot based on speculative potential. If you can't see the disastrous results as manifested in LQ's lackluster play - until he was pressed into a more prominent role because of injury issues, Nolley's attitude until the same occurred, and the fact that Boogie, DJ and Baugh took off because they saw the handwriting on the wall then you simply are not being objective.

As if that weren't enough add to it the fact that Bates was pressed into service before he was mentally or physically ready for this level of competition.

None of that is an indictment against Bates btw.

Bates was atrocious on the defensive end… completely lost. If you didn’t see it, then you weren’t there. Emoni’s minutes came at Nolley’s expense; and there is no way anyone can claim we’re better with Emoni getting 20 minutes & Emoni getting 30.

Just for ***** & giggles… what were Minott’s stats those first 3 games? Who was more efficient?

6 Games Without Williams
3-3
Point differential of +1.2

Williams' Last 4 Games
4-0
Point differential of 15.7

That includes Tulsa, where we were up 13 when he left with the injury with 5 minutes left, and ended up winning by 3. Poor ToolinMem23 is so upsetted that we lost last night, he can't handle it.
