I worked with John Painter several times when I was in the state guard. He was the police chief at Grottoes. Wow. Hard to believe. John was a really nice guy and good to work with.

OT: ACTIVE SHOOTER In Progress at Bridewater College. Several Shot.
27 year old Alexander Campbell of Ashland, VA was approached by the two officers after a suspicious suspect call at Memorial Hall. When they approached the suspect and talked to him the suspect open fire on the two officers. The suspect has a wound to the leg, unknown if he was shot by the police or it was self-inflicted.

It sounds like a mass school shooting was averted.

Man, awful. My brother in law said he knew both of them but was good friends with Jefferson. At least the kid was reported suspicious and stopped before it could've been worse but man.

Yes, I’m just making an assumption here but I’m guessing he was planning on mass casualties until he was approached by the officers who thwarted that attempt.
