I obviously agree. I did go to Cleveland (I bought the tickets in 2020 and was tired of rolling them over) and even without the women’s team there got into the games a bit. I just kinda of like the idea of promoting the MAC instead of the individual schools on 92.3 The Fan. All the Ohio schools have plenty of alumni around it might just work. Also promote they ARE Division I. A lot of people don’t even realize that.

The funny thing is HIPPA does not apply to coaches. It applies "covered entities" which are essentially health care companies and things of that sort. A lot of people have a completely wrong idea on what that law applies to and abuse the idea of it even if it would not apply.

As a quick example a store asking for your vaccination status is not a HIPPA violation, however your insurance company just giving that company your medical information of any sort to that same store without your permission would be a HIPPA violation because your health insurance company is a "covered entity".

Is a University an entity (and hence the coach since he works for the University)?

Now the University could be worried about it either because of lack of understanding or even more likely worried someone that does not tries to raise a case that while doomed to fail could cost the university money. They also could know that it is easy to just say HIPPA and few people would even question it.

In the law it gives a definition of a "covered entity" and the university does not fit.

That being said there are other laws that can stop the university from talking about these sort of things they just won't be HIPPA. Not that it would likely apply here but the American Disabilities Act can stop your employer from asking certain questions or revealing certain information. That is just one example there are others but often times people will say it was HIPPA when it was probably some other law like the ADA.
