He played for Nick Sabin and Gary Pinkle and then coached under Gary Pinkle as coach and Tom Amstutz as D coordinator. That was back in the day when Toledo almost always beat NIU, so you are probably correct. If he came from the current coaching staff I wouldn't be confident.

Where is Toledo Tom these days?
I remember him one game at Huskie stadium just before halftime at about the Huskie maybe 30 yd line, maybe 25.... on 4th and something... he has his guys run up to the line to run the next play--- the Huskies are flustered on defense-- I think had the field goal block team running onto the filed.... and so Joe Novak calls a time out to save the penalty. Then.... Toledo kicks the field goal and NIU is left with little time on the clock and on less time out (maybe it was the last time out they had.) I thought, dam---- slick trick. He had no intention of going for it-- he just wanted to force NIU to burn the time out!

Hats off to Toledo Tom--- he made me laugh (with appreciation) that day!

Toledo Tom is retired but stays in touch with the University and its Alumni. He is a fantastic person and a lot of fun to be around. He lives in the Tampa Bay area.
