GCU will deny it until they are purple in the face like Tan Dan.

Can’t inagine what it would be like to have a budget that allows you to pay students to attend games. Oh and then still lose.

My question is if they do pay students to attend games, what’s wrong with it?

If they do it, good on them to be able to do it. Main thing is that they been denying it for years that they don’t pay students to attend games. It’ll be less of “thing” if they just came out and said it.

This but also any attendance banter should come with an asterisk over GCU’s Numbers. It’s gimmicky—like the “school” they attend.

Nothing wrong with the payment itself.

If they're charging extra tuition money to cover it, still not my business, but if I were the one paying I might be not be pleased. It would like the city adding $100 to my property tax and then giving it back if I showed up at all their holiday parades.

They do report it as "paid attendance", so how could there be any misrepresentation‽?

Well, a good portion of those in attendance attendance WERE being paid lol.

Could it not be seen as a meal stipend for an away trip? It's not like the game was in Phoenix. Band members and cheer squads get paid stipends for away trips all the time at most schools. It's almost 400 miles one way. Not uncommon to see schools incentivize students like this from time to time.

TRod dropping straight knowledge! Indisputable proof! This debate can finally be put to bed. GCU pays students to attend. That's a fact.

People can make excuses, say so what, who cares, etc. The fact remains, GCU posters swore up and down that students were not paid. We have proof that they are. No need to debate this anymore. The issue was never if it was right or wrong. It was simply of question of whether GCU was paying or not. They are paying.

You may want to check in on other schools then. I know for a fact that other schools do it including schools in the Pac-12 as well as the $EC.

I don't care about other schools. I care that GCU fans have denied this vehemently for years. They lied.

I'm honest and truthful about NMSU. I posted that we did not have 12,300 fans in the seats. We didn't. The total Pan Am capacity is 12,482. For 12,300 to be there, pretty much every seat had to be taken. They weren't.

What don’t you get. I don’t care about other schools doing it. Heck I don’t even care if GCU is doing it. Point is they have been lying for years about it. Even posters on this board. Now it’s out.

Heck Tarleton has paid the transportation costs for students to go to an away game (most notably trips to the Elite 8 when it was hosted out of state). That's not new anywhere at any level.

Did you guys lie about it after the fact and insist it never happened? Is it just the lying that's "new"?

Why are people coming to GCU's defense? The issue is not that the kids are being paid, it's that GCU posters insist they are not getting paid. They are adamant about it.

I’m supportive that GCU does it. Their Paid students bought at least 250 tickets in the Pan Am. It also makes for a good game experience environment. Heck, GCU takes more students to NMSU games than Sam Houston has fans.

Did GCU also pay for lodging and transport for the 250 to NMSU? That’s no short trip (maybe not even in my book).
