JMU 1-23-22 Mid-Pack CAA
Some potential areas needed for improvement:
1) Vado, while talented, has turned into a David Fanning. He's streaky. Does a lot of good things... When we put so much on him (especially late in games) the outcome of games is too much of a coin flip. It will be hard to win consistently with his chucking at any time style. I feel like others are watching him and at kills the offensive flow.
2) This team is too focused on steals, and not enough on solid defense. We get a lot of steals, but when we miss, we are out of position which leads to easy baskets.
3) I feel we were seduced by the 50% 3 pt shooting versus NU and Hofstra. We got away from our offensive game which I saw as improving.
4) We really need to add some front court size in the off season.
5) I think Nacho will help this team, and especially Strickland, when he returns. Those two play great defense together.
As we stand today, we are an average CAA team. That said we're one game in the loss column from 2nd in the CAA. I don't really like how we are playing. Would love to see us improve this year and contend for the Sunbelt Title next year - which I feel very possible.

We need to rebound better, getting bigger is one way to fix this fatal flaw.
We do have some pieces, so much better than the Rowe dynasty.

I was probably one of David's biggest fans. He was the reason we beat WVU on Dec 5 of some year.....

He absolutely was the reason we won that game, and many others in an era of horrific coaching and mediocre talent surrounding him. Vado is good but can't hold a candle to Fanning.

We're just very average in an average league. Better than we've been. Still hopeful we improve dramatically like last season, but I don't think right now we are playing as well as we did against UVA and Mason earlier in the year.

If nothing else, the brand of basketball is exciting. That, and our victories against our in-state OOC should keep the students interested. Would be nice to finish strong to keep the momentum going.
