Back in the early 1960s, in the national championship years, I can remember visiting teams pausing their pre-game warmups to sneak peeks at ours in the old Armory Fieldhouse. Hogue, Wilson and company used to put on quite a show.

Great story; I'd never heard that before.

As I recall too, even dunking the ball in warm-ups meant a technical foul could be assessed. The game has changed dramatically and not always for the better.

I remember in the 70s with Bob Miller, Mike Jones, Gary Yoder & company they would run their pre-game warmups like the Harlem Globetrotters with Mike Jones feeding the ball to the players like Meadowlark Lemon.

My Dad told me that in his high school league (60s in Connecticut), refs would assess a technical if players didn't call their own fouls by raising their hand after the ref blew his whistle.

I would much prefer that to all the whining and moaning you see today after almost every possession or blow of the whistle.
