RE: @Towson - GAME 14 - CAA GAME 5
Not sure if there was a reason because of injuries or protocols, but Towson only played eight guys against CofC last night. Here are their stats in conference:
Cam Hoiden 6'5" 200lb Sr 14.2ppg, 8.8Rebs, 45.3%FG, 35.6% from3(16-45), 35 stls, 33.9 min
Nic Timberlake 6'4" 200lb RsJr. 13.6ppg 4.6Rebs, 41.8%FG, 38.8% from 3(38-98), 33.4 min
Jason Gibson 6'1" 175lb Jr 11.9ppg, 2.7Rebs, 45.7%FG, 45.7% from 3(42-92), 25.5 min
Terry Nolan 6'4" 200lb Grad 11.2ppg, 2.7Rebs, 35.9%FG, 24% from 3(18-75), 66 assists, 28.9 min
Ant Rizzuto 6'3" 210lb Sr. 8.4ppg, 2.5Rebs, 41%FG, 41% from 3(27-66), 22.6 min.
Juwan Gray 6'8" 225lb. Grad 7.8ppg, 4.3Rebs, 55.7%FG, 38.7% from 3(12-31) 20.7 min
Thompson 6'7" 240lb Jr. 7.7ppg, 5.5Rebs, 53.6% FG, 29 blks, 25.3 min
Chase Paar 6'10" 250lb. Jr 4.1ppg, 3 Rebs, 53.6% FG, 10 blks, 12.7 min.
Towson has some big men but the rest of their roster isn't imposing size wise. Their big men are kind of lumbering but they had 9 blocks against Charleston. All upperclassmen on the floor.
#1 in the conference on defense percentage allowing only 40% FG
#2 offensive rebounding and #2 overall rebounds at +4.3
This is a game where Kelly is going to be important to offset their size in the post. I think we'll be able to get to the basket on the drive, but they have some big men waiting to block our shots. Also a good chance to apply some pressure, get some TO's and get out on the break. Almost 40% of their shots are from three, and their big man Gray will spot up outside and hits 38.7% . They also have the best three point shooter in the conference in Gibson who makes almost half his three's at 45.7%.
It's easy to see why Towson is playing so well. They have size in the post, they rebound well, they play good defense and they can hit the three. UNCW should be able to hang on the boards and get to the basket and score, draw fouls or kick out for the three. But I think the difference will be that we can turn them over with our pressure, much like the second half of the JMU game. I think Okauru bounces back and has a big game to lead us to the win as our three guards have their way.
Hawks - 75
Kittens - 72
