15-11 ODU at the U16. Way too easy for ODU, a team that typically struggles to score, to get good looks.

20-17 Rice at the U12. This is not the ODU defense of years past. Numbers show it, but it's something else entirely seeing it.

26-24 Rice at the U8. ODU really struggling inside with Poteat. But we're not exactly teaching a clinic on how to defend the paint. Though, to be fair, we've made it more difficult for them over the last few minutes.

35-27 Rice, ODU timeout. ODU's bigs have still scored a few, but I actually like both Fiedler and Poteat's defense on them. They've made every post interior bucket difficult, which is all you can ask for when you don't have true shot blockers.

And I jinxed it.

35-34 Rice, Rice TO. Disappointing that this is a one possession game. Offense and defense have sputtered since the 5 minute mark.

40-38 Rice at the half. Good execution on offense for the most part. But, again, 38 points allowed isn't going to cut it. Some of that has been good shotmaking, but we still need to be better.

Prior to this game, teamrankings.com showed both of tonight’s teams (plus MTSU and FAU) as next tier CUSA teams, all with a 2% chance of winning the conference auto-bid. Behind the “big four” but still ahead of Charlotte and Marshall at 1% each.

59-54 ODU. In a season full of embarrassing defensive performances, this is right up there with the worst of them.

ODU outscoring us already 14-21 in the first 7 minutes of the 2H.

Not sure why Pera has gone back to Fiedler so aggressively. He's been much easier to score on and he's not giving you nearly the same scoring punch inside as Poteat. He hasn't been bad, but Poteat looks like the better matchup.

And good lord, you'd think after the 20th curl screen that ODU has run at us that we'd be able to defend it.

69-63 ODU at the U4. Olivari gonna be at the line for 3 FTs out of the break. Dicey charge call on Poteat the possession before but I think we've gotten away with a few fouls at the other end.

Massive 3s by Olivari and Pierre, but Poteat misses the front end of a 1-1. Then a big steal by Mullins. 71-69 Rice with 1:25 left. We need to run some offense, not just dribble it out. Considering I'd imagine ODU will be expecting a play for Evee, Olivari, or Pierre, wonder if Pera tries to get something to Poteat at the basket.
