The students were there in force. It’s the regular season ticket holders who didn’t show up.
It was a sloppy game. The good guys did not value possessions when they began to take control of the game and it cost them the win. A tough loss. Hopefully they’ll learn from it.

No doubt the regular season ticket holders stayed home, but if “the students were there in force” they certainly won’t be mistaken for the Cameron Crazies.

No doubt. That acknowledged, JMU students are showing up and filling their assigned seating areas, which is a big improvement over the last years in the Convo. Baby steps.

For decades, I've always been puzzled why the ticket holders don't make the minimal effort to give them away when they can't attend. Gotta figure there's a dozen or so organizations that would put them to good use, even at the last minute.

I may be wrong, but I believe Coach By has recruited a certain "type" baller: guys that are athletic that he wants to spread the floor with and slash to the hoop to score. It is not the traditional set-up that BSKB24 is lamenting, but it's what he has installed and has to run with the line-up he has recruited.
It's not the type of offense that I was use to back when I was in school, but I'm not against it. I would just like to know how he can throttle back his system to be more secure with the ball while still maintaining the "flow" he is trying to achieve.
It's been years since I played organized ball, but that was my general understanding of Byington's scheme. Is there something schematic wise we can do to cut down on the turnovers or is it just better execution within the system we are running.
Or am I just way off?
I agree with Halz. Earlier in the year, there was definitely an issue with players rushing three pointers and playing hero ball, but in this game, Vado was 5-8 (can't argue with that rate) and everyone else took six combined shots from downtown.
Part of our problem is that the players with the best court vision also play too fast on offense. I honestly think guys like Strickland and Edwards haven't learned how to separate the intensity needed for this defensive scheme and the control needed for offense. If they figure out how to still go 110 mph at one end and then shift into a more relaxed state on the other, look out.
I've long said Strickland has one of the prettiest looking jumpers on the team, but they still don't go in. My guess is that once the game slows down on offense for him, he will be a big time threat on that end, too.
All of this said, after the previous four years, I can't argue with By putting an emphasis on the defensive end and letting the offense come later. My biggest complaint about every other coach since Lefty is that they didn't lock down that side first, which would have at least made us competitive, I believe in what By has done, at least at this point in the rebuild.

There are posts on here with available tickets to every game. I think supply is higher than demand.
