Quarterback Controversy
Returning as a RSoph (we assume) will be Tyler Riddell. Brock Landis returning SR. served in a back up role this past year. With a healthy Cade Larkins RFR will there be pressure on a new coach to change from a conference winning QB?
Thoughts?

Plus we have offered Georgia Tech QB (grad transfer) Jordan Yates.

RE: Quarterback Controversy
Landis won't be a factor and Larkins, if he stays, is coming off an injury, has no experience and hasn't practiced since last spring. He will have to show an ability to run a ROP offense mixed with some option. He's never done either, he is a typical drop back passer. There are a couple of QBs that redshirted. Two of them looked like legitimate possibilities.
Riddell would be way ahead of anybody on current roster.

Just curious. Why would you ask about or think there was a QB controversy?

I think it will be fan driven and the pressure will be to give the local guy the nod.
Personally, it is Riddell unless something drastic happens, I am a believer that you "dance with the lady that brung ya". Riddell has "brung" us some great wins.

RE: Quarterback Controversy
If Tyler can strengthen up a little to the point he can break or at least shed a few would be tacklers that would help improve his game tremendously. He doesn't have the largest of frames but if he can improve his core strength to where he can buy just a little more time for his receivers he could be a real weapon. If he can't I'm confident GQ will find someone who can.

The goal should be to always improve at all positions. Riddell has improved greatly since coming here and was used effectively last season. He also has limitations. If he doesn't fit the new system as well or if the new coach can find someone new to come in and improve the position, that is what should be done.

Based purely on his ability as a passer, I'd say Riddell is already a weapon. Still, along the lines you mention, there is room for improvement in strength, pocket presence, and effective scrambling when the defense gives him an opening.
Also, improved strength would help him hold onto the ball. Fumbling was a problem area.

Agreed. No problem with the passing, however it seems at times when the rush gets anywhere close he would get knocked down by a single hand or tripped up by a shoestring tackle. Hopefully with some serious off season weight training he can get stronger and more sturdy under fire.

Riddell would also benefit from strength training to improve his burst speed. There were times he would seemingly be clear of the pocket and ready to run, but a defensive linemen would catch up to him in those first few initial steps.
