Giving Metric
JMU's gifting metric is not good, 6-7% I saw in a Bourne communication
two questions
1) Does a DC membership count as alum gifting or does it have to a specific category of gift
2) How many Dukes are married to Dukes and technically a gift should count as two different Dukes gifting but only one is being counted? I am married to a Duke

I am married to a Duke and when I send in my donations I ask my wife her amount and then add in mine.

RE: Giving Metric
I think you will see this abysmal 6% metric move substantially higher with our move to D1 football.

Yes, Duke Club giving counts as a gift to JMU. I'm married to a Duke, but that only counts as one gift.

RE: Giving Metric
I make all of our donations and I'm like 99% pretty sure it always says mine and my wife's name when it goes through the system. I'm 99% sure no donation has ever gone in under just her name but she has gotten a thank you addressed to just her from Women for Madison. Based on that, I have to think we both get credit in the percentage calculation. If not, it's a seriously flawed metric, but also not their fault if one person isn't including their partners name on the donation form.
Thinking through a group of ~15 married couples we hang out with most, I'd say 50% of the couples are both JMU grads and of the remaining couples I think only 1 couple went to the same college (UVA) and the rest are all split. Not sure if that is confirmation basis or if JMU grads marry each other more than other schools, but this could help explain why JMU's metric is lower.
That last chart I saw stated the calculation was "Average percentage of of living alumni with bachelor's degrees who gave to their school during 2018-2019 and 2019-2020." I'm assuming that metric held true for all schools on the chart, but we do know that JMU does accounting a little differently. Even with that, I don't understand how W&M is >2x the percentage of any school without some sort of apples to orange situation. Do they sucker all alums into a $1 donation which is counted while other schools require a higher threshold? Are they better at tracking the partner donations or is it not just a large population of their alums? Does W&M send an email 1 week after graduation saying for a $5 donation the alum can get a framed picture of them walking across the stage at graduation.

RE: Giving Metric
I am going to add my wife the DC membership log. I don't think spouses will move the needle but it does not hurt....we gotta get to at least 12%
