MBB at Marshall
Always a tough challenge trying to stop their offensive firepower. Only 145 in offensive efficiency this year, but D'Antoni's a coach that can scheme.

RE: MBB at Marshall
If the first two possessions are any indication, I'd be disappointed if we don't score 75+. Marshall in a 2-3 zone that is porous to say the least.

Although Fiedler has to be more aggressive at the FT line. He turned down about 4-5 shots, all open, on our 3rd possession.

RE: MBB at Marshall
11-7 Rice at the U16. Marshall can't defend in this zone for all 30 seconds. If we don't turn the ball over and pass quickly and sharply, we should get a lot of good looks from 3. Unfortunately, the same can be said about our defense. Marshall (especially its bigs) are getting shots with nobody in the area code.

RE: MBB at Marshall
Marshall switches to a man-to-man, counterintuitively when Poteat comes in for Fiedler. But it's the obvious defense to play against us with our tendencies, even when we're executing well in the P&R.

RE: MBB at Marshall
Marshall looks much better defensively in man. Sheffield sacrifices his body and draws a charge (a call I hate...ban the charge).

RE: MBB at Marshall
15-11 Rice at the U12. Poteat with 2 quick fouls. One was a bad call, the second he was the victim of his teammates' rebounding (Olivari didn't box out his man but everybody else was just standing around). No clue why Marshall opened up in a zone because we cant get good looks against their man (which is an alarming thing to type out when you're playing Marshall).

Passing clinic so far from Fiedler. This looks like him from last year.

Executing much better on offense. 26-17 Rice at the U8. Good combo hustle play from Mullins (slight deflection on a loose ball), Olivari (stepping in front of a lazy pass), and Fiedler (hustling and cleaning up the offensive rebound).

Rice leads by 13 at the half. Pierre with 5 threes to pace the Owls.

RE: MBB at Marshall
44-31 Rice at the half. Marshall switching to man messed with us for a few possessions, but we looked good after that. Think the score probably flatters us - Marshall has gotten a ton of good looks from 3 that they've missed. They're 3-20 from three and I'd say 8-10 of those were wide open. Need to tighten up our perimeter defense. But more importantly, we need to keep making shots. 15 for Pierre, who's responded well from his down game on Thursday. 12 for Evee. 4 assists for Fiedler, who looks like he's playing in a game that was made for him (it was...between the zone and Marshall's inability to stick with cutters/movement this is a passer's game).

RE: MBB at Marshall
48-40 Rice at the U16. Cold to start the 2nd half. Marshall not exactly hot, but a couple buckets at the hoop for Kinsey and then a putback have allowed them to trim the deficit. 14 offensive rebounds for Marshall. Didn't really hurt us in the 1st half (only 6 second chance points), but we're playing a risky game with the looks they're getting and the number of shots they're being allowed to take.

52-50 Rice. Don't know which has been worse during this 3-4 minute stretch, the inability to find a good shot against Marshall's defense or the inability to even put up a meek resistance on the defensive end. Gotta go back to Fiedler. We're missing his playmaking.

We're getting clobbered on the boards. Marshall has an 11 rebound edge, but more importantly has 16 offensive board. As a result, they've taken 17 more shots than us.

63-58 Rice w/ 7:45 left. Marshall momentarily tied it up after, and I'm being kind, a pretty horrendous stretch of basketball. But then a really good post move by Fiedler and a 3 by Evee.

Rice 66-60 @ 6:17 after a pair of 3s from Pierre and Evee. We're shooting 58% (11-19) from beyond the arc.

Make that 12-20 as Pierre hits another one. He's got 26 points. Evee with 17.

Pierre is unconscious. Another 3 to stretch our lead to 9.
