X factors
Hawks seemingly have found a starting lineup and it’s working. How do they maximize the collective effort to keep the winning streak going? Playing guys 36 plus is generally not a sustainable strategy so how does the staff negotiate this?
The obvious answer is the bench and the X factor. The CAA is a war and not a battle. Expanding the efficacy of the bench will be crucial in a conference that will seemingly have most battles win by fewer than 5 points.
Fornes, Harvey,Thomas,Kelly and Samb appear to be in the rotation at present. Harvey is really another starter and is already becoming a CAA staple. He needs to keep being himself. Kelly is a very good player and you could make a case that he could also be a starter . He needs to keep being himself and continue to let it come to him. Thomas needs at least 8-12 minutes per to get him there. He has the tools and needs to make the prudent pass to keep the flow going and weigh whether it is a low percentage play or not-PT will help that. If it's the end of the clock, go do your thing.
Fornes is a big piece to this team so this is for him . He is beginning to understand his role better lately and has been seemingly more efficient. Shot selection/ball-sticking and bad close out angles/foot work a few games ago drew the ire of the die-hard Seahawks fans. He has cleaned that up in the past 2 games. The only thing that I see with Jaylen is not always being “shot-ready” on the pass. It has really hurt him imho because he can flat out shoot. It IS the difference and why he hit the game winner. Pre-shot body posture is crucial before that kick out pass and that is an incredibly important detail! He was ready and did just that when it mattered the most. He needs to do that every time and I think that he will knock down even more shots. For a shooter, it's about what you do before you shoot it and he knows that.
Samb needs to keep doing his thing. He has developed nicely and has a good perimeter touch as well. He needs embrace a hard hat mentality on defense and be aggressive on the glass/he can be a FORCE if he only knew what he can do. If he does that, opportunities will be there for him and he can always step out and do his thing too.

I would not use “flat out shoot” and Jaylen Fornes in the same sentence but that’s just me

RE: X factors
I thought Kelly was a key piece in the Delaware victory. He neutralized their big men and was a force on boards. Against Elon, he seemed to have trouble with their quickness and was ineffective early and didn't get many minutes. I think who steps up and the X factor off the bench will depend on who we are playing. But it's great to have some depth!

RE: X factors
It appears to me that we have a guy at the helm now who is quite adept at seeing pretty quickly what pieces of the puzzle he needs to use on any given night. He currently has a 10 man rotation and juggles those guys very nicely when the starting 5 may have matchup problems or we get into foul trouble. Refreshing to see a guy on the sidelines who has tremendous basketball IQ, and can think quickly on his feet. Kudos to coach and the entire staff.
