RE: UT Arlington to WAC
I do not think the WAC was in a position to pass up Texas-Arlington coming into the marketplace especially if they were considering the Southland as well.

Nice to have a footprint in Arlington (DFW) area.

The WAC will now have 8 football and 4 non-football members once the dust settles with UTRGV adding the sport, Southern Utah joining the league, Sam Houston/New Mexico State leaving and this addition to Arlington. There is a bit more of a tilt towards Texas with SUU, UTU, GCU, Seattle and CBU on one side and seven Texas schools (Lamar, SFA, ACU, UIW, UTRGV, Arlington and Tarleton) on the other side.

Seattle is the only team left from UTA's previous one-year stint in the WAC.

UGH! Forgot Utah Valley... LOL

8 football / 5 non-football

West: UVU, SUU, UTU, GCU, Seattle and CBU
Texas: Lamar, SFA, ACU, UIW, UTRGV, Arlington and Tarleton

It would be nice for the league to add Northern Arizona or Weber State to 'complete' the balance and get the league to nine football schools (for four home/four away).

If I'm Oral Roberts I'm throwing my name in the hat for member #14

But I suspect they will be saving that spot for any potential Big Sky dream add

There's NMSU, though they won't be back together for long, of course.

RE: UT Arlington to WAC
Lamar, SFAU, ACU, Tarleton State and UTRGV will leave the WAC as quick once they get an invite to an FBS conference. That is why I am against adding a non-football school since they wanted football schools in the first place. Northern Arizona and Weber State refused to join the WAC. They are not budging. There is nobody left in the Southland worth adding. Southland is trying to lure back the Texas schools from the WAC which will not happen. Southland, the WAC and OVC have to go D2. Same with MEAC, ASUN and Big South.

Great for Sun Belt. They finally have all members playing football. It’s turning out to be a good realignment season for them.

From the scuttle I read, WAC tried to lure Northern Arizona away from the Big Sky (and read on SUU message board Thunder Bird officials tried to as well) but at least for now Lumberjacks prefer Big Sky

Or without one. The western WAC schools screwed themselves big time. Of course, several hope to move on themselves, but in the meantime they have potentially shot themselves in the short-term feet.

Other than UTRGV, all of the Texas schools were terrible additions to the WAC and it was obvious from the get-go.

I do think Central Washington is lobbying to join Big Sky.

As long as half of the conference schools are flaky Texans who NEVER even wanted to be in the conference (they only DIDN'T want to be in the Southland), no one is joining and the WAC is just sitting and waiting for a mass exodus and then try to pick up the pieces again.

I said it from day one, and Sam Houston was a member for a whopping 2 months before they announced their departure.

So who does CUSA take for 10? Tarleton St., SFA, Missouri St, or EKU. If it's not 1 of the 1st, 2, WAC will be at 13
