RE: NORTHERN ILLINOIS GAME
EMU guards Monty Scott and Darion Spottsville are two of the highest 2-point shooting guards in the MAC. Trey shoot a higher overall percentage than most other guards in the MAC.

EMU’s Monty Scott this season is shooting 62.8 percent (27-43) percent at the rim, 49.8 percent (28-59) on two-point jumpers. He’s also ranked 7th in MACplay with most field goals made. His excellent two-point shooting is comparable to former Kentucky guard Tyler Herro who shot 66.7 percent at the room, and 46.7 percent on two-point jumpers, and was drafted in the fist round of the NBA draft a few years ago.

Spottsville is shooting i52 percent on 2’s at the rim and 61 percent on two-point jumpers (11-18). But as one can see, Spottsville has taken few jumpers. His decent shooting is offset somewhat by opponents scoring off his excessive turnovers and steals. He needs to clean-up his game as EMU will soon be playing better MAC teams.

The only other MAC players shooting shooting two’s almost as well as Scott arecMOH’s D.Grant who is shooting 60 percent at the rim and 48 percent on two point jumpers, and KSU’s guard S.Carry who is shooting 53.7 percent (21-41) at the rim, and 46.7 percent (27-56) on 2-point jump shots.

Toledo’s Rollins is shooting 60 percent at rim, 38.8 percent on two point jumpers.

Ohio’s Sears is shooting 59.5 percent at the rim, 37.5 percent on two-point jump shots.

BSU’s Todd Cochran is shooting 56.1 percent at the rim, 46 percent on two-point jumpers.

BG’s Samuri Curtis is shooting 54.5 percent at the rim, and 53.1 percent on two-point jumpers.

Buffalo’s Segu is shooting 54.6 percent at the rim, 46.3 percent on two-point jumpers.

Buffalo’s J.Williams is shooting 47.7 percent at the rim, 43.8 percent on 2-point jumpers.

Akron’s Castanada is shooting 42.9 percent at the rim and on two-point jumpers.

MOH’s Delonte Brown is shooting 64.3 percent at the rim, 38.7 on two-point shots.

RE: NORTHERN ILLINOIS GAME
I watched both the Ball State-Buffalo game and the Akron v. KSU game tonight. Came away very impressed with the starting talent level on all four teams, but could see that the similar style of all four teams were the reason all four teams struggled to score points, and didn’t score as many points as they should have. As such, all four teams lacked consistency in scoring the ball.

Buffalo did seem to have the best talent of the four teams.

Since posters from other teams read our posts, I’m not going to point out the flaws in the style of play as I want to see EMU play well against each team going forward, and don’t want to see any of the four teams improve their respective systems of play on both sides of the ball. Sorry to sound like a know it all without divulging more.

Just glad that Heath is EMU’s HC and plays a pro offense. I’ll leave it at that. EMU has the talent level and offensive style of play to beat all court teams, but I’m not saying going forward will beat all four teams going forward as EMU needs to commit to stooping opponents three-ball when conference opponents try three games are shooting 38.5 percent on three’s.

Buffalo beat Ball State, 74-68. After losing it’s first two games, Buffalo has won it’s last three games.Ball State’s Tyler Cochran scored 28-points in a losing effort.

Kent State beat Akron 67-55. KSU’s Sincere Carry scored 32-points in tonight’s game.

EMU is now in sole possession of third place in the MAC..Nice to see Ohio, Toledo, EMU, and Buffalo as the top four teams in MAC standings. If EMU beats NIU tomorrow. EMU will move to 3-1 in the MAC. KSU, BSU, and BG, all have 3-conference losses. WMU has 4-conference losses.

EMU needs to finish conference play with a top eight MAC record to play in the MAC Tournamentt and have a chance to go to the NCAA Tournament. There are no longer East and West divisions. A win tonight by Kent State would given Akron two losses in conference play

Eastern Michigan is a 1 1/2 point favorite to beat NIU today on NIU’s home court. The over-under is 139 total points scored in the game.

Anyone who has DirecTV sports package can watch EMU /KSU (WBB). EMU is getting soundly beaten.

Next up at 4:30 EST is the MBB game also on DirecTV. Of course, Maxx Crosby fans might want to watch the Raiders.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS GAME
The black uniforms on NIUs hideous dark court makes this a hard watch.

Kevin Rice continuing his momentum from the CMU game. Nice looking jumper.

Looks like Farrakhan is hurt. Oh no…

Farrakhan coming back in. Announcers must’ve made it sound way worse than it actually was.

We were playing well until the last 3 minutes or so of the half. Then we got sloppy and NIU hit some miracle 3’s. Down 7, but I still like our chances. Keep making them shoot, and the misses will follow.

I would agree, depending on desperation threes with the shot clock expiring is usually not good strategy.

So far, even though we are losing, I think this is the best officiating I have seen all season.

Darion Spottsville has been phenomenal on both ends in the 2nd half. Really asserting himself defensively, hitting jumpers, and just made a beautiful move to get by his defender to kick it out to Noah for a 3. We needed someone to step up with Monty being out, and Spottsville is doing just that.

You jinxed it. They’re calling every little thing now. This game didn’t need to be over-officiated.

He got torched in the first two minutes, then is probably playing the best basketball game he has ever played at EMU.

We are down one at the under 4 timeout, but Noah is going to the line for two FTs.

RE: NORTHERN ILLINOIS GAME
Garbage bail out call by the refs on a Hankerson drive leads to Noah getting T’ed up and that’ll probably do it. Unreal. Disastrous second half for the officials both ways.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS GAME
The refs way over officiated this game. 42 fouls called! C'mon man.

When is the last time EMU played a game with the full roster available?
