The guys just toughed it out.

Our current FIVE (my bad) game win streak is tied for 15th longest in the nation.

Our 4 game home win streak is tied for #89

The difference was Shykeim Phillips. Barely played in the first half, resulting in the ball and many Seahawks not moving. Second half that all changed, and in the last 5 minutes it peaked. Granted - Sims, Okauru, Baker and Fornes (on that clutch late 3) were solid. But Shykeim is the catalyst. Keep his hands in his pocket, get him about 37 minutes and reap the benefits. Go Hawks.

Phillips adds great movement, great ball handling, smart plays and the ability to get in the paint and break down the defense. It isn't a coincidence that we had ZERO turnovers when he was able to get back on the floor in the second half.

I agree about Shykeim! His absence in the first half was certainly an issue. And he really came alive in the last 10 min on both sides of the court. Catalyst is a good descriptor!

I think there was a concerted team effort in the game. All of Shy's 11 points came in the second half. Okauru had 13 points, 7 boards, 7 assists and 7 deflections. Fornes finally made a 3 at a crucial time. And Baker finally figured out how to defend against their big guy.
Shy had 0 assists. But he was very affective in other ways. Sims helped keep us close enough to make our run. 12 unanswered points to overcome a 10 point deficit was big time. No quit in this team.

Good Defense keeps you in games. Even when the offense stunk we still were only down 10. Offense moved much better in the second half, the half court when they slowed down they tossed some weave in there(this wasn't there in the first half). and getting out in transition helped. One thing we are seeing here that we didn't see early on this year and certainly not with the last regime) is adjustments, and they are helping us win games! I love that Baker seems to have made the most of his chance last night. Now with Kelly fully healthy both of those guys playing well will be huge for us!
